Well I did something stupid today...        I bought another car....

But its a Mopar...

1966 Plymouth Satellite Convertible

Medium blue metallic with a light blue gut / Black power top.

Car has a running 318 Poly (numbers matching) with a console shifted automatic.

Car has clean floors with only minor surface rust

Known problems with the car:

1. Brake master cylinder failed.
2. fuel line is clogged and prevents fuel from tank.
3. Tear and dents in driver's side fender
4. Minor rust on driver's frame rail from battery (2 holes the size of a dime and quarter)
5. two finger tip size holes in the top and missing rear window.

so now the big question - what do you think I paid ?

nothing like a convertible :Twocents: but I have found there is a very limited time in the midwest for driving enjoyment.  I feel if you can't put the top down, no reason to take it out of the garage.  Anything below 65 F and over 85 F is not real enjoyable, maybe a little less on the warm side if you have black interior.  i have thought of changing mine to white, but I would need to repaint all door pannels as well and since I have already purchased black covers, just not sure I want to go through all that.  something you should think about if you have black interior now.  Congrats sounds like a great deal, can't wait to see pictures.

Well went and got her registered today all official like...     got new plates and tags...     fun stuff....          Gave the engine bay a bath and put in a battery - Filled the bowls of the carb and she actually fired up then promptly died after about 15 seconds....      crank it some more and she wants to start...     put putt type...     anyway = I notice a liquid spraying from under the hood - hmmmm    an engine wont start without fuel so...    ya...     I should have checked the rubber lines before as they are ALL now leaking....       good to know the fuel pump works though.

Looks like tomarrow I'll be ordering a complete list of brake parts as well as getting some fuel line...     should have this thing on the road by next weekend...    It'll be pretty busy around here as I am picking up my freshly painted Charger tuesday as well...      yay for three cripples in the driveway!    we shall see.   :D

Small Update on the Satellite - last night got a set of used Cragar S/S wheels and some decent rubber (BFG 245/60/15) to slap on as the Keystone wheels are 14" and wont clear the front disc brakes I'll be installing (standard Volare stuff with 11.75" rotors)  Later on she'll get Viper calipers but that is way down the road...    the convertible top is working again so I am close to driving her...       The plan for the car is already determined - get her on the road without spending a heap....    quick paint job, rebuilt 383, big block TF727, and 3.23 sure grip...    Toyota Speedway Blue, white top and white interior...

Toyota Speedway Blue, white top and white interior...

opinions ?

If this was my car, I'd keep the correct blue it was born with. It looks very good!

I don't know how different the Speedway Blue is compared to the original, so I must comment - -  WHY CHANGE A GOOD THING?

Rolling_Thunder

Well - here is a photo of the Blue I am talking about

Compared to stock

all in all I think it is a VERY close match to the original blue - you ask why change a good thing ?  How many different mixes are there for plum crazy ? I've seen at least 3 different shades and everyone says theirs is correct...    what about B5 blue ?  same thing....         This is the closest color to the original I have found and it is a modern color with all the advantages of such...    easier to find, no custom mixing, and they sell those little touch up pens at AutoZone   hahaha

But honestly it is Very close but just has a little more "pop" in the sun...    :2thumbs:

yep - thanks for the compliments guys - this will be getting a rebuilt 383 and a big block auto in a while - in the mean time it is just getting some front discs and a rebuild of the brake system then driven around a bit until the time comes...   the Poly runs but I dont think it will fit the bill for my itch...

Down the road is the engine / transmission swap, paint, interior, top, and some minor body work - I expect to have this little guy done for < 8,000 = going to do the minute bodywork myself and going to end up painting her myself as well...   I will only farm out the top - I know my limitations    :scratchchin:

Well - small news - I got my choice of a couple engines - got a 440 block, 383 block, the 318 Poly, and a complete 383...    The plan is the just rebuild a stock 383 with a K56/K60 on a 115 LSA  and around 9.5:1 compression...     Stock appearing with about 380hp...   just enough for a little cruiser....       This project will begin in the next couple weeks it seems.

Alrighty...    Plans have changed due to my recent unemployment stint...    now that I am working again I'll start doing the small tasks here and there....      The 440 I was debating on installing in this has been sold (Needed the $$$ for the Charger) - I am going to rebuild the complete 383 I have for my 69 Road Runner in case my friend's 528" Hemi sells before my car is ready for it....      So...    I think this guy will get a 5.7L hemi down the road...

Back to the progress...    well there is not much...

Here is my task list for the rest of the week.
- Turn 11x2.5" Drums
- Turn 11.75" Rotors
- Media Blast spindles
- Media Blast backing plates
- Order new drum hardware kit
- Order new brake shoes
- Order new brake pads

I have discovered that the most i seem to itemize things to lists the more crap gets done.

Well - it's been over 4 months and I have not done jack on this car...      I have instead been concentrating on the Charger and the Road Runner...     I have however been accumulating parts for "Satty" -

I managed to score a brand new Weiand 4bbl aluminum intake for the 318 Poly = $50.00

I also tonight scored on a 600 cfm Edelbrock carb with electric choke = $25.00

I plan on using the magnum 500s off my Charger on here as well - considering I will be getting new wheel for the Charger to clear the brakes...

I am still debating on what the correct engine color is...   charts say red but have seen many satellites with blue poly engines...
