hey so i was wondering what everyone has for audio in their muscle cars.  I am a huge audiophile and i mix live sound so i'm probably one of the more picky people when it comes to car audio and any audio for that matter ;D.  I currently have a Pioneer DEH-P4400 and Infinity Kappa Perfect speakers.  I'm looking a purchasing an Infinity Basslink sub.  It sounds much better then most subs on the market but the best part is its all self-contained, amplified sub.  Nothing else to buy.  but yeah...so i'm interested in what you guys (and girls) all have in your rides.  Thanks! :2thumbs:

i prefer the sounds of open headers as my music.

''These powered subs are designed strictly for the person who wants to add significant bass to a car system without losing a lot of space'' I read somewhere. Is this what you are looking for?

Right now its a pair of pioneer 6x9s and a blaupunkt sub. I have a pair of 6x9 kappas sitting on the side just going to pick up a new amp this week (rockford fosgate) and i should be set for now.

I don't listen to the radio in my Charger, and the only reason I don't put together a killer system in that car(besides the fact,i'd rather hear the motor) is the age of the vehicle and the wiring involved, amp draw, etc....  In other words, how is your wiring in the vehicle.

As asked above, is space a concern for you?  If so the Inf B/L might be the way to go but I believe you are going to lose it in the quality of the sound.
I'm a fan of infinity to some extent but would only purchase the mid and high components and not bass.
It also depends on what kind of music you listen to.  If your a thumper music guy, then you definitely don't want a 10" sub that only takes up a cubic foot of space.  I didn't see the magnet size on this thing but those space saver models can't pack the punch like say an Alpine type R or better(and i know there is a lot better, just an example).

If you are a rocker, like metallica, motley, etc... they tend to have a lot of bass in their music as well and a 10" won't do it again in my opinion.

If you are just looking to boost the sound of your existing tunes and don't care if you shake the windows in the local mini mart, then I say it might be a good choice..... and if this is your choice I think you could save yourself some cash and get almost the same sound for less money with a different brand.

I'll wait to hear your needs concerning space and music interest for now.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I just went on Cruthfield's site cause they always have customer reviews and such.  Lots of good reviews on this unit but it appears there are a lot of issues with reliability and the support isn't so good as well from the company.  I can vouch for one thing this guy says below, and that is Crutchfield has excellent customer service.

Here's one i read

First off I must mention I made the mistake of not purchasing this unit from Crutchfield. All other components of my sound in my truck came from Crutchfield (a year ago) and it's still rockin' today. Kudos to Cruchfield (which is why I purchased a MTX thunder form for the truck from them).

Now after my basslink died less than three months of owning I also found Harman's/Infinity's support to be lacking.

After spending some time investigating the basslink online I also learned there's multiple issues with this unit's dependability.

Moral of the story is I should've been patient and purchased it from Crutchfield like the head-unit, speakers, Sirius tuner, etc.

Crutchfield rocks and their support is awesome from prior experience.

The basslink is good if you have limited room.

Beyond that forget it.

Tell us what kind of music you listen 2 and what you would like to do with it.

You want it loud or do you want it to sound good?

I have 2 solobarics and built a very stealth system that sounds great with rock and country.

It all can do the boom boom bit pretty well also, but thats not the goal.

interesting words...well i was looking at the basslink mainly cuz i didn't want to be having the extra weight of 2 12s or something of that nature.
man i listen to just about everything but country ...classic rock, i love dave matthews band, blues...i don't need any heavy thump action, well, on occasion, yes :D...but i just want clean, articulate, definitive bass.  Cuz how it stands right now, the system is highs=good, mids=great, and the lows could just use a bit of a push...as far as wiring the sub, yeah it would hav to b all new, not many chargers came from the factory w/ a 4 gage power cable in the trunk ...wring for the deck is fine, its a light duty deck, so i'm not to worried, i may replace the speaker cable if it gives me a hard time...who knows, i may skip the sub...i'll b doing some more reading...thanks

I forgot to include DMB in the need a better woofer category.  I'm a big Dave fan as well and that band deserves a quality sub to really appreciate everything that Carter and Stefan put out there.

Curious if anyone has pics of how there wired up to their battery. They sell the radio specific terminals...but dont see how that would work with such a heavy guage wire going to the starter. And dont want to make it look like a mess.

Hey gunz, sweet setup. Where did you buy that batter terminal? And what size wire do you have running down to your starter?

Just the stock old AM in mine too.  On those rare occasions when I do want to listen to something other than big block Dodge I just throw a battery powered boom box in the back seat.  Pretty lo-fi huh?

Well, I just had to chime in here. I still have the factory AM radio and a replacement 4X10 dash speaker (kicker). But I wanted the option of having FM and MP3 also, so I installed 2 Blaupunkt 6X9's under the rear deck, 2 Blaupunkt 5" under the front dash (hidden) and a Soundstream amp under the package tray. I'm using my Zune player for the input to the amp. I just got a mini to RCA cable and ran it under the carpet back to the amp, the other end  is in the console with a bit of slack.. Since the Zune player has MP3 as well as an FM tuner, it works out pretty well. Everything is hidden and appears stock. When I want to use it, I just plug in the Zune and away I go.
