Hey all, well been a member here for a little bit. Anyways, I'm currently a Challenger owner but, I'm thinking of jumping ship if I can and heading over to the Charger side. The reason for this is I'd like a bigger car and I know 3rd Gens are still fairly cheap for now compared to what I paid for my E-Body. Anyways, I figure I just put the word out that my Challenger will be for sale and now looking for a 73-74 Charger. Maybe you folks can enlighten me on these cars. I'm mainly looking for either a 73 340 car or 73-74 400-440 Big Block Charger for a reasonable price. I'm looking for a nice turn key since I have knee problems and limited to what I can do. Anyways, if anybody has a decent one for sale or knows of one please let me know. Anyways, please edumacate me on the Chargers please. :yesnod:

Take care,

lets see some pics of the challenger. Where are you located?

first stuff about Chargers vs E bodies...

PEOPLE WOULD BE ABLE TO SIT ON REAR BENCH LOL... j/k

73 340 charger would be great. Is a killer engine and a "rare" car to get... well not EXTREMELLY rare, but at least not common. 73 was the last year to that one. I think a Nice one with just some magic touchs needs to make it perfect would be around $10-12K

Most people have the 71 as a favourite 3rd gen, but to me 73/74s have smoother lines, with continuous body lines and enlarged quarter windows. Also my fav tail lights kind larger lenses.

Only thing that I REALLY makes me feel jelous about 71 is the REAL full vinyl roof on 71/72 instead the halo kind of 73/74. Maybe also the hidden headlights option, not available since 73... anyway you alwasy can add that, same as front spoiler and rear wing if you like or even louvered R/Ts or Bees' insert hoods ( expensive BTW ) options on 71. Also Air Ram hoods.

Any 73/74 with any engine you get, I think the best choose would be the Hardtop one... WH23   on VIN with Rallye package, except if you like the louvers on SEs ( WP29 ). 73 340 is a Rallye one by default.

Just my two cents.
Nacho.

talking about... of course this is a HIGH OPTIONED one, with sunroof, suregrip, tach, pistolgrip so manual tranny... rear deffog and AM/FM radio

even I don't like the delete stripe option and I love A/C:

Note... door pull handles are not original. If you want them original, would need the brougham option interior with different upper panels: thinner woodgrain insert and extra padded.

i love 3rd gens, and the price keeps on creeping up,so i guess i cant sell mine.but i would if you offered me 10 grand

04lbram

Well thanks for all the replies so far. Anyways, I'm aiming more toward a 73-74 Charger but, however I would definitely consider 71-72 cars as well. For those interested in my Challenger here's some pictures. Not a real R/T car but, close enough with the train setup and body parts on it. I also haven't put on my Rallye Rims yet but, I do have a set of 14" Rallye I did want too and probably will anyways. It's not a perfect car by any means because I don't want to overhype but, given its a 71, has a big block in it, and has extra parts to go with it and not to mention a lot of new parts on the car it's worth some money. I don't know, I mean there's a guy with a 73 Barracuda 318 car and got offered $20k for it. Anyways, if I came across a decent 3rd gen Charger I would more than likely trade. But, anyways here is some pictures for your entertainment.

I guess no one likes my car.  :'(

Blown70

Is this car in Western North Dakota?

The pics are too blurry.  It is hard to tell what kind of condition it is in.

No way! I really dig that car I've seen you post about it before - and I love the color. Every time I see a 3rd gen in that color I want to change the color of my green one.

So...  :2thumbs:

Sorry about the pics being blurry. I'll go buy a cheap camera to take pics with since my video camera only does 640x480 resolution.

04lbram

Anyways, I really don't want to get rid of it because its been a good car especially since I drove it back from South Dakota to another state here. But, anyways its a decent car and I'm just looking for a Charger since parts are a little easier to find anyways since they built more 73-74 Chargers than they did 70-71 Challengers.

69charger2002

i don't have a 73-74 charger, but i'm interested in your car. what would you take for it?

I was thinking of somewhere between $12k and $12.5k for it. What type of price range are you looking for?

If you do get some better pics please post them, I may be interested also depending on where you are located.

Blown70

Yooo, sorry to bother but is this Challenger in WESTERN ND?

If so,  I can look at it for someone as I have to head that way to pick up a bumper for my 70.  That is if ya all want...

69charger2002

that'd be cool tom
by the way 04 i got a 74 4 speed cuda from a member on this site(RMMOBARN), very cool guy, for $11,500. it was in super nice shape. i thougt challengers were not worth QUITE as much as cudas?? not sure, i am not a typical e body guy. not saying your car isn't worth 12-12,500 by any means, but i was thinking of paying more like 10k for a nice one

I think a 73/74 Cuda or E body would be like a 73/74 Charger... cheaper than earliers

04lbram

That is correct Nacho. The 72-74 E-Bodies tend to bring less than the 70-71 Challengers which are more sought after. Now I'll be honest I actually paid $15k for this car not to include the parts I have bought so it's worth I'm asking.

1970440RT

I currently have a plum crazy 73 with a built 440.  I wasn't planning on letting it go, but I have to make room in the garage.  I'll post some pics tomorrow.  Nice Challenger by the way!

Nacho-RT74

Hey, I'm not saying doesn't worth ;) just saying than earliers are more expensive that your one ;) and I think your one is on right price.

This is my '73 with a 440.  The pics are pretty bad but they are the only ones I have on the computer.  If you are interested, I can get better pics.
