Best tire and wheel combo for a street-mod 69 Charger RT

My car is coming out of my paint shop in a week and assembly will start.

I decided to go with a slightly custom restoration - nothing too crazy like body mods or anything.  Just custom paint, massive engine, tranny and a few odds and ends.

I want to look at a 17" and 18" wheel/tire combo.  Its tough to find any cars with this combo - any I do find look like they don't fit very well.

Does anyone have any examples they could guide me to?

I want the perfect fitting wheel/tire combo within the rear fender wells, just so the tire is under the well and right out to the edge.

Same goes for the front.

Maybe I'm dreamin'...

I've looked over a few hundred photos of 69 chargers and found very few with 17 or 18" wheels...seems everyone likes the old school (as I do!)

Maybe I should stick with tried and true...

I think 16" wheels are the most underrated size out there for classic iron right now.  (Wearing a tire sidewall that's reasonably tall but not huge, like a 60-series or something.)

15" rims and 70-series tire sidewalls is decidedly old-school, and 17" rims with 45-series tire sidewalls is decidedly new-school.  It splits the difference.

Awesome Kamkuda, thanks for the link.  Gives me some ideas.
