k memeber question

do k's differ between big and small blocks? would i have to modify anything from a big block k so i could put a small block in it? depending what kinda shape mine is in (haven't gotten to do a deep examination yet) can i get one from a big block car?

Third gen Charger K members differ from big and small block I know, I believe 1st and 2nd Gen have the same K member but different moter mounts.

You are sort of correct on the 3rd gens.  It's only true on 73 and up.  Before didn't matter.  But 73 and up, yes there is a difference between small and big block as well as the difference in the passenger side inner fender.

Yeah, that's the deal.

1972-down Kframes on B-bodies were the same thing for all the wedge-headed V8 motors.  Everything from 273 inches to 440 inches except for the 426 Hemi.  Just different motor mounts bolted onto it.

Since K-members are under discussion, is it true that a 440-6PK car had the same K-member as a hemi car?

Hemi is an unique K member of course not available on 73/74 K member configuration. 440-6pack should it eb same than any 440, since is the same block

Chargercop, the locations of engine mounts is SLIGHTLY AND ALLMOST UNOTICEABLE diferent. some ppl has been able to mount one block on a diff K member with luck. Some other ppl got some problems on linkage aligment and tight fitting. All depend of tolerances of car when was assemblied on plant... However Schumacher ppl already made engine mount adaptors to save that.

BUT if you are making somekind of clone( like a big block rallye ), I would go for the perfect clone trying to get the right parst, and not only K member is diff. Inner passenger side fender is diff too, same as the front sway bar. But that's just me if I'm trying to and I have the chance.

Thanks Nacho-RT74. I was just worries because some local guys had said the steering gearbox was mounted at a different angle.
