The Dealer Invoice list gives a little longer title to the "Dealership" of:

Hatfield Reconditioning Center - Hatfield, Pennsylvania

Whether that was an actual Dodge dealership or not, or exactly what type of business that was, I have no idea.

Oh - and it does say that the stripe color should have originally been black, although I won't hold out that list as infallible with every car.  It's right for yours at least!

I have the cars history back to 79', when Ernie P. and Mike purchased it from the original owner but they can't recall who that was... How would I go about trying to find out who the car was sold new too? Would the DMV have records? I'm not totally familiar with your sytem over there in the US, cheers.

I spoke to Ernie at a car show. When that car was rumored to be the Ok flood car.Ernie who currently has a daytona and owned several wingcars back in the day.Sold this car to Dave Patik at PCG.What Ernie said at a high rate of speed the driver intentionallyr went head on for a telephone pole.Which caused the car to become damaged when it got flipped.Dave Patik back in the day was buying and saving wrecked at that time beyond repair wingcars. And a ad was in MCG Galen was selling several daytonas of Dave Patiks for $14K or less .This car was one of them .And also Where Tom In Ny stepped in.Maybe a DMV search or a accident report if they keep records that long in PA might be worth looking into

You will not find DMV records from PA.At one time $5.00 would get you a history. That stopped when they lost a lot  most  records from the early 70's back in the flood/fire,not quite sure which.Memory fading. The only thing they will reaserch is a vehicle involved in a criminal investigation.Every thing has to be done manually and they wont take the time or manpower to do a search with what is left.

I think every State's DMV invented their own flood, fire and/or pestilence story just to keep guys like us from bugging them to death.  :brickwall:  I suppose the respective DMV's just aren't going to go back and transfer old title history data from punch cards, tape reels, etc. into a new database.  That would only leave, as Bill said, digging through the records manually - which isn't likely to happen just by asking.

However there could be some hope... While searching for the ownership history on my Daytona a few years back, I found a P.I. (who was also a car buff) in the state capitol for Missouri where the car was sold new.  A couple of C-notes later, and he conjured up a copy of a printout showing the complete Missouri title history for my car along with several other 1969 XX29 & XS29 cars relatively close in VIN sequence.  There's no guarantees it will work in another state, but you never know.

I got a 80-s reply letter from the state of NJ that they no longer have records after so many years .In previous years and state you could get results .Certain states like MO and Fl took you back to the MSO.But nowadays you have to do you own legwork .By try a post on mopar message board if anyone from Hatfield Pa remembers the car.Or maybe the wreck article might be in the newspaper microfilm data base of the Hatfield PA paper..But when I went to local swap meet a guy had boxes of older various states titles for sale including NJ .That the state of NJ for one said that they no longer have.  I check for wrecked daytona  charger / PA on the internet .And only came up with this wrecked charger.which was switched for the same color 66

Were back to the search but Ernie not knowing who the was the original owner he got car from.Or being able to get a copy of the title info with orig owner on it.As PA doesnt have a database .Before changing it over .We dont know what publication newspaper newsletter or what form of communication or form of publication was the leed to the cars whereabouts.Or the busines where car was towed to in wrecked condition presumed Chalfont PA.But the daytona is complete back together and on the road again .Hopefully MCG or a wing car newsletter or a magazine will do a feature story on it .And someone out there might have the answers were looking for
