If I remember correctly Popular Mechanics has been the ONLY major automotive publication to stumble over themselves praising the Creeder and kissing DCX's @r$e, and they do so without a single shred of objective criticism. ALL the other legitimate publications have had at least something negative to say about the car, if not MANY negative things to say. It's hard to trust a publication that is 100% out of sync with the populous and the other publications within it's field. Whenever someone is so blindly complimentary I find it a little suspect...something stinks here. Popular Mechanics is more than likely afraid of losing the BIG advertising dollars that DCX is shoving into it's (greased) palm. I mean c'mon, at least say something negative about it...anything...it isn't perfect by ANY stretch of the imagination, NO car is. Popular Mechanics isn't to be taken seriously on this one...but then, most of us already knew that.

About a third of that blurb was dedicated to bashing the interior. ???

Who reads Popular Mechanics anyway? It's like the Weekly World News of automotive magazines.

You guys are very entertaining.  When it gets a bad review, the writers are geniuses.  When it gets a good review, the writers are morons.

Just remember this.

The car is selling at better than projected volumes thereby justifying their decision to build a 4-door Charger.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

But is it selling more than what the Intrepid did in the same time frame as last year?
Don't know, just curious.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

its not selling better than the intrepid here in new york-people are scared of the rear wheel drive, doesnt matter if you show them the esp, traction control, etc

people have been brainwashed for 20 plus years that fwd is better-and no one cares if its a charger/magnum/300,not many selling

Is that because of snow?
A Fact of Life: After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF.........

When I test drove the R/T, the Sales Manager I was talking with after the Salesman showed me their Inventory, was near to begging me to buy the damn R/T...
We had a 25 Min. convo about it and he said lots of folks came in looking for the old LHs and were leaving dissapointed...
He said they wanted to replace their 300 M, Intrepid and LHS and did not like the LXs...

Popular Mechanics is on par with Motor Trend for objectivity...  :P

ChargerBill

Fuzzy math: 1/3 = 1 sentence out of 12....hmmm...seems to me that is actually 8% ;)

BTW: FWD cars offer better control and traction than RWD cars in the snow. I still think that MANY sales are lost due to boxy, pig-nosed, shapeless mass, Galantesque styling...I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. :rotz:

Mary Connely, the woman who wrote that review, is a grammatically challenged imbecile. How many times can you say "he says" and "says" in an article? I think it even comes up 3 times in ONE paragraph...good grief! :rotz:

Anyway, I'm suprized they haven't offered the 4 cylinder shut off yet...what are they thinking taking so long?

I don't think you are wrong at all.  Putting the weight over the drive wheels makes a whole lot more sense than using a lot of F.R.E.Ds (F***ing Ridiculous Electronic Devices) to compensate for the wrong weight distribution of an everyday car.

Don't get me wrong, I like rear wheel drive performance cars.  But I have been driving in the snow since 1971. I want a front wheel drive vehicle for my year round vehicle.
If Daimler doesn't build one, I will buy another brand, period!

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

Headrope

So a front wheel drive Charger would be okay, but not a four door one?
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.
But before the General Lee there was me - Headrope.

:eyes: So what did you read there?.. to come to that opinion?..

(I could still use that dang decoder ring)

So, Silver, tell me, do you call anything that does not perfectly fit in with your own PERSONAL opinions a bunch of worthless BS?
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

I still wonder where all these better than expected sales volumes are going.  I've seen very few so far.  Are they all being sold in the southwest or what?

You know...I was wondering the same thing. Here in Northern California I think I've seen 6 or 8 TOTAL on the road since they started selling...and ONE in Anaheim while I was there for a week. Where are these THOUSANDS of cars?

North America is quite vast!

Blakcharger440

Hey what better way for them to create a  "buzz" about the new stinking "charger" than to say they are selling like hotcakes! I have only seen one in my city.
They certainly dont want to say the car is a pig and even chicks wont buy it!

I certainly would not buy one.

plum500

Seen a few around my province, but still not enough that you don't know where to expect to see each one now and then. The black one is ususally here... usually see a silver one there... someone in this town has a silver one...etc. etc.. Saw a black one with a white hockey stick on the back yesterday... must say, my honest reaction was "yuk" with a bitter aftertaste.

Here's numbers that are on LXForums.

Looks like it's creeping up, but still nothing earth shattering. Looks like some Magnum potentials have opted for sedans. Meh...

That article doesn't make sense. First the editor says...

"The latest iteration ... is obviously closely related to the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum. Do we care? Nope."

And then to end it he says...

"Opening the door, however, reveals a disappointingly bland interior lifted from the Magnum station wagon. And that's a real pity in a car that fuels so many dreams."

"This was the dedication of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, by the princes of Israel: twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver bowls, twelve spoons of gold..." -- Numbers 7:84 KJV
