Headliner installation questions

I'm working on getting my new headliner installed on my '69 Charger and I had a few questions that other posts on the subject didn't really answer:

1) Contact cement- what's the best brand for this, and more importantly- is there a mail order source for it? None of the regular parts stores carry anything I'd want to use on a headliner and the stores who do I can't get to due to their business hours being the same as my work hours :/

2) On the business of 'stretching' the headliner: just how exact do I have to get the wrinkles out of it? I've gotten it to the point where there's some slight wrinkles left (about 1/4" deep)- would those come out using a heat gun or just exposure to the sun, or should I keep at them? (how DID they do this on a assembly line??? )

3) I guess this might be a special case for Chargers, but any tips on getting the areas around the rear window straight? Particularly around the 'short' bows next to the rear window.

I can get pics if it'll help- and any ideas would be appreciated!

i did not  use any glue on mine  ,    as for the getting the wrinkles out  , before i  put the headliner bows in  , i ironed it fron the back , becarefull you don't  get it too hot & keep the iron moving .  had to do this a couple of times  .
  then when fitting it , use a hair dryer  , for heat source

I've been trying a hair dryer but it's one of those little portable ones.   Not sure if it's putting out enough heat over a large enough area to see if it's doing any good or not.    How many watts was your dryer?

No glue?  Not even for the triangular section along the rear window?   WHen I removed my old liner I found that there was some glue down along the package tray area.    Any suggestions on how to tackle installing that triangular area?   I assume that I can get the rest of the headliner done and down with the headliner clips before I have to turn my attention to that area?

yeah the one i used is only 1600 watts ,   did not heat a larger area  , once it has been ironed  only minor creases !
  start at the back  , en-gauge the first  bow with the wire  retainers in the roof , then keep pulling forward , temporally clamp the sides on the very edge , becarfull you  don't mark the head liner , where it is seen !!!!!!  , then go back doing a section at a time IE between the bows , heat a bit then push the head liner up & work it towards the edge , & clamp & so on , i used a lot of Little clips , like the original factory , which  are smaller than what you can buy now , but used the new ones also ...  , just take your time heating & stretching one section at a time , even going back over what you have done if necessary , nope did not glue  , used a bit of double sided tape to hold it in place , before the package tray went in  :   personal choice   the 2 triangular sections , either side of the rear window  leave till last , i was a good half a day doing them bits , & still could not get it how i wanted  ,  then had a look at  a picture of a unrestored charger never been a part , had a few creases in that area ,  so called it job done .

I think that might be part of the problem- my dryer's only rated to around 600-800w.     Hard to get even a moderately sized area heated up with it.   I think I might try to find one with more wattage to use.

Double-sided tape.... didn't think of that one    I'll give that a try, too.   I've got my glass in so in some places it's hard to get clamps in (I've got some small clamps from Harbor Freight that I've been using.   They grab well but not well enough to keep a lot of tension on the fabric) so the tape would help a lot.

But thanks for the tips- I'll give them a shot!
