any chrysler dealer mechanics out there?? non charger related

i wonder if any one could help with my non charger related question.
my wife has a chrysler grand voyager,i think its known as a grand caravan in the states.it has a fault with the auto box that is intermittant,it wo nt change into the top gear.but leave it for 20 minutes and it does,then it runs fine for a couple of months then it wo nt change into top gear again.its probably going to cost me a fortune if i have to take it to the chyrsler dealer to get sorted out.car is 2004 and its a 2.8 turbo diesel.
as its front wheel drive will it have a gearbox filter and if it does would changing this help??

depending on the year, Chrysler products have been notorious for transmissions going out, I had to change my sons 98 Dakota, my wifes 2004 Caravan, and my 2001 Ram.  Chances are you will be having your tranny gone through shortly.  Mine started the same way you described and progressivly got worse.

do nt think it has overdrive just 4 speed auto,it has done 90000 miles but according to the previous owner it had a new gearbox fitted at 60000 under warranty,maybe he was lying or maybe chrysler gearboxes are shit?
my new magnum wheels i was going to buy are out the window now though
i have nt even had it a year yet and have spent more money on it than my previous voyager i had for 5 years
