As some of you may remember, I was a passenger in a car crash this summer. I finally got some pictures. I was sitting next to the door that got torn off of it's hinges. The brown is from the tree and 1/3 of the front rim is missing. I must say that this car looks like it was built great and didn't crush like a tin can.

Damn...  :o

That must have been one traumatic expierience..

I hope that everyone is doing okay..

We all walked away. I figure that is good when the idiot driver is going almost 60mph on a country road at night with fog and mist.

Why not tell him not to? That's pretty wild. If the car would have been just a foot and a half to the right, you'd probably be dead.

I told him once during that ride while he was going at a higher rate of speed than the crash to slow down and he did slightly.
Here is the story for those who missed it.
My friend was driving down a country road at a good rate of speed. It was rainy and foggy. Rounding a bend, the front right tire left the road and the rest of the car followed. So at this good rate of speed the car slid into a small tree, totally annihilation it. Then it hit a big tree then a telephone pole. Both air bags deployed in the PT Cruiser and my door was nearly torn off. I was sitting at the rear passenger side. The door just got torn to the rear. Right before we went off the road I grabbed the person to the left of me to try to get toward the middle of the car. Out of the five of us the worst injury was basically a paper cut. The window exploded on me and I have little cuts on my right side and a headache. The car is most likely totaled. The airbags smelled so bad. It really happened so fast but also like slow motion its weird. The only sound I heard was like banging a baseball bat on a tin roof,

Dan, You are very lucky. No more riding with idiots  :slap:

I don't ride with a lot of people now because they think they are Mario Andretti. The owners said that there was glass embedded in the leather seat I was sitting on. The car was totaled and they bought a Jeep Liberty.

Actually, being a body/paint guy, they aren't built for _hit. Judging by seeing alot of hits, you guys were lucky and just skimmed it. If you would have hit dead-nuts side ways, you all would have been dead, and still be part of what was left of the tree. Pretty much all cars today are designed to "crush" like a can to absorb the impact. Not much impact here, still some scary _hit though. Glad you're all OK. By the way,did you bitch-slap the driver before the end of the night?

The front wheel took most of the impact then the tree slid across the car I think. I couldn't bitch slap the driver because he was going crazy. After he crashed, he ran into the middle of the road crying and was hysterical all night. He got a ticket for excessive speed and for leaving the road, but PA and NY don't talk so he didn't get any points. I think he should have gotten his license suspended for awhile. I still bring it up occasionally to make him feel bad.
Jackie  , I would much rather get into a car with Shelby with the parking brake on than that idiot.
