I know this isn't the area for this but I tried in the "Parts Wanted" section with no luck.  Seems to me that more folks post here so here goes.  Hoping soomeone can help me locate the small spring used to control the seatback latch on a bucket seat (passenger side) for my 69 Charger.  I am having the seats recovered next week and really need to locate this before then.  It looks like the spring is the same for A bodies 68-70 also.  Any help finding one is greatly appreciated!

Here is a picture of the driver side for reference:

I'd call Legendary.  If they don't know where to get one chances are nobody does.  I didn't see one on ebay.

Thanks thats a good idea, I'll try them in the morning.  I've been searching ebay for days without luck.  Well I could buy a hole seat for a few hundred bucks.

I think (THINK) the number is 2428388.  That is listed as the "manual seat adjuster seat lever spring".
According to Parts Voice http://collectorsautosupply.com/ has it.
You may want to call them and ask for a description of the part before you order it though.

Thanks!  I called but they can't confirm this is what I am looking for.  Although I told them I could send them a picture of the item. I am somewhat suspect because they only have one part number and I am told the driver side is different from the passenger side.  So you would think there should be 2 part numbers?  Maybe this is the spring that moves the seat itself forward and back and not what I am looking for?

Anyone have a parts reference manual with the part number for this item? They said they could pretty much get me whatever I need as long as I have a part number.  I don't have one nor do I know anyone that has one.

I called and they said they knew what I was talking about but would need to get back with me.  Keeping my fingers crossed

Lets be clear ... where exactly is this spring?
I did look it up, and I gave you the "manual seat adjuster seat lever spring" part number.
The "seat back latch return spring" has a left and right.  THAT is 2888582 (R) 2888583 (L).
However it is not the same part number as A body.

Awesome...thank you...I was told that was the same for an A-body but you obviously know more then then the person who told me that.

Yeah, I checked as well.  Collectors Auto shows the number in stock but quantity "0".  Well, they said they can get anything eh?
Next step woul;d be a yard but I'm afraid you'll have to buy a back assembly.
You know what, try Tom Race at R/T Specialties.  He may have SOMETHING that might work if you send him a picture.
Also, you may try a fastener place or hardware store that has an assortment.  Hiawatha Fasteners or Fastenall is what we have here.
Otherwise spring places - I believe that is called a torsion spring.

One on this page almost looks like it: http://www.globalsources.com/manufacturers/Small-Torsion-Spring.html

I tried Tom at R/T Specialties also.  He doesn't have one and said I'd probably have to buy a seat.  I'll try those other options...Thanks

I've been looking for a junk seat that has this spring but can't seem to find one.

bull

Looks pretty simple. Can't you just make one out of some thick, stiff wire?

ODZKing

After I wrote the last post, I sort of thought that too.  So I looked for that:

and
http://www.rctankcombat.com/articles/torsion-springs/

I'm thinkin' I could do that!

bull

There you go. You could make them and sell them to us for $22 each. :2thumbs:

Try Byron Fettig from The Dakota Connection

dodgeboy67

if a 66-67 is the same i might have one

Took a ride to the junkyard today and took two seat latch springs out of a 70's monaco (only old chrysler there).  They don't look exact but they work!  In fact their a tougher spring then the 69 version and work better.   Yeah...problem solved and it only cost me $4 (the cost of admission for two).
