I just wonder: I've seen '66/'67 4-doors with the hidden-headlight-charger-grill, but did anybody ever see a '68 or '69 Coronet with a Charger-front?

Shouldn't that be more like 'All 68 69 Coronets Charger other than 500s have Charger 68 Coronet Grilles in them'   :scratchchin:

:icon_smile_big:

Nope, I was really talking about the hidden headlights of a 2nd-gen-Charger in a Coronet.  :icon_smile_wink:

His question is; anybody seen a 68 coronet with a modified charger grille?
Have not seen any, but it is an interresting question... think it has to be modded pretty heavy to fit.

jaak

 I have seen a 69 Charger with 69 coronet fenders and hood before.

A guy in Oklahoma did a 67 Coronet convertible with a first gen Charger grille and taillight assembly (Jim Rodebaugh, I think is his name?) Closest thing I have ever seen to what your describing.
74 Charger SE, 400 HP, 4-speed

I've seen a few 66-67 Coronets with fastback Charger grilles and vice versa but not 2nd gens.

Actually I knew what I was posting, because the 68 Coronets, EXCEPT for the Coronet 500 (DIFFERENT grille) Used the grill that was later put in the 69 Charger 500.

Pettyfan;
FYI the 68 500 has the same grille as the rest, the only difference is there is 2 chrome pieces and the 500 emblem that bolt to the center of the grille. My Coronet is a 500. :cheers:

To put a charger grille in i would think there would be some major fabrication to make it fit. Though after staring at Ron's newly restored one on his 68 i'd like the look if it were doable.
Where's our photochopers, let's try it to see what it would look like. :popcrn:

AHHH I didn't know that, I've never seen the 68 500 grille OUT of the car, BUT I know the 67 500 and 69 500 both have DIFFERENT grilles than the standard one.

Cool Thanks.

Yeah, Jim Rodebaugh IS his name. Real good friend of my family, namely my dad. When I was in Oklahoma in the Army from '87-'88, I drove up from Lawton to where he lives, just outside Tulsa, and it was in it's infancy. To have seen it at the 40th Anniversary of the '66 was amazing. It IS a '66 Charger convertible. I know on one of these threads Charger convertibles were being questioned, but Jim's car is WAAAAY cool. He also has a mock '64 Concept Charger that he built by hand from Chrysler Corporation original pictures.

Actually, I had a 69 Super Bee and a 69 Coronet 500 and the only difference was one had a Bee emblem and the other had a large bolt on "500" emblem in the center.
