I am so bummed....I found this car a couple years ago and I just can't save it from oblivion. The VIN was stolen and the empty shell is just sitting in a friends yard by a ravine under mossy oak branches housing a family or rats. I didn't realize that it was an SE or a stripe delete car until today when I was stripping the last bits of parts off it. I got the rear window intact, rear bumper and bumperettes, the quarterglass lower curved stainless trim pieces, the windshield corner indexing stainless pieces, one wiper arm and I am going back this week for the rear window regulators (drivers side has good glass), the striker plates and the steering box. I'm hoping to drag it out of there and save it for a cool drag car in the future but the possibilities are looking bleak. I hope to at least get the entire front K-member (intact with all suspension) and sadly (not even willingly) cut out the NON rusted floorpans and trun pan. It's sitting in the dirt and sunk in a bit with piles of leaves around, but I think it also has the rear leaf springs and gas tank too....

Someone stole the VIN years ago to swap onto a cleaner body and left it there to rot away. Sad, it could be a great car...one of the most desirable of them all. I mean, the ONLY thing missing is a 4spd.

I feel your pain, about four years ago,I bought two 69 R/T SE Chargers, out of a junkyard. They had been sitting for twenty years,One was a rallye red stripe delete 440,4 speed, that was smashed in the nose, and the motor and trans were gone. It was a rusty New England car,but still had the factory tach, and the Dana 60 rear axel. The second Charger was a triple black, electric sunroof car,it was 440 auto, with A/C,and power windows,The car was severly rusted, and the sunroof was barely salvagable.the motor and trans were missing from that one also.

Bill you should get the VIN from under the trunk lip and post it. Maybe someone we know is driving around in that car.

I found a '69 R/T SE sitting in a salvage yard during my travels through the SW United States not too long ago.  Car is solid as a rock, missing the drivetrain and the interior - basically a shell.  I couldn't believe how clean the sheet metal was on thi car.  I scored some of the leftovers for mine.

Here is my 69 SE.  383 auto.   My Dad knew this car when it was new and he said it had a tough life.  The owners beat the crap out of it..  Then it sat in the dirt on a farm for years and years..

Hey PT, that Charger looks to be a good "father & son project" if I'm not mistaken.  :D

;D  Ya i should call up Hans and see if he wants it. ;D

I already cut the 1/4 panel tops off for Troy and mopar440+6 for their cars.  its been a good parts car for me so far.  I've made my money back on ebay already.  Do you need a 6-way drivers seat, i'll trade you for that 69 tail light panel?

Sorry PT, but there's nothing special to me about a 6-way seat that justifies the insanity prices they go for. (No offense I hope.) I've got a power seat set up for the Charger, & already have one in my Satellite. It isn't stock, but it seems there's an infinite amount of positions compared to only 6 of them. I didn't forget you needed the tail panel, don't worry. If it's going anywhere you'll hear from me.

Hey Joe,

I was looking at a '69 R/T SE last winter in Tonawanda, NY.   I only saw photos but it looked pretty tough.

His e-mail address is:

evad28@aol.com

Be careful.   Get someone who knows cars to go with you to look at it and someone who knows how to haggle.   The guy was looking for $7500.00 USD last year around Christmas, way before the Dukes of Hazzard boom!

Ouch.... :'(

Actually, kind of funny the way you said it... :P

I'll get the VIN next time I'm out there. I need to get the rear window regulators and the rest of the trim. I'm still trying to find a friend with a 1 ton dually or 4X4 (my 1/2 ton won't do it - it's dug in too deep) who's willing to pull the car out of it's dirt bed so I can remove the K-member and springs...

I had always been under the impression that there were NO 1969 Charger RT/SE's that had a HEMI. I was under the impression that you couldn't get an SE with a HEMI until 1970.

I think the "Hemi" Bill refers to is actually just the color Hemi orange on this particular car. Or did you find a Hemi car Bill?

For sure get that VIN.  We wouldn't want a rebody foisted on some unsuspecting buyer.
