I took the kids to Mc Donald's today in the wife's Honda Pilot.  You know the SUV that sits kinda high because it has 4 wheel drive.  I always keep Elevator barricades leaning up against my Charger in case the kids open the Honda's door into the Charger.  That would not be a good thing as the paint and panels on the Charger are really really nice.  I've always told my wife if the rear door hits the rear Quarter on the charger it would be up high and I wouldn't Even know how to handle it (emotionally).  I'm really big on paint.  Even when my engine blew and I put another 10,000 into the car after being strained on putting 30,000 to buy it, I always said  " at least the body didn't get damaged".  Well it did today.  Because I took the car out several times for errands and a cruise today, I left the barricades leaning against the garage wall.  When we got home from Micky D's, the little one opened the rear door on the Honda into the Charger. :brickwall:  :brickwall:  :brickwall: !!!  After I kept my composer and told him to be careful ( and he walked away ) I took a peak at my perfect laser straight panels, and there was a ding along with a small knick high up on the flawless rear 1/4.  I screamed, Noo!!!!!!!!!!!     :lolexplode: :lolexplode: :lolexplode: :lolexplode: :icon_smile_dead:   :icon_smile_shock: :icon_smile_shock: :icon_smile_shock: :coocoo: :coocoo: :coocoo:
Long story short, I went to the Sunday night cruise and cried in front of some big Mopar guys.  One guy that deals with cars daily said he uses Scott the "Dent wizard" and he does a great job.  That was great news, I hope to hook up with him this week.  Have any of you had this problem and used a dent specialist that works the ding or dent out?

P.S The side view picture is a "pre ding" picture

I hope it works out for you. That is EXACTLY why we bought a 4 post lift for our garage. No matter how careful you tell the kids to be you just know it's only a matter of time before they hit it.  :rotz:

paintless dent guys work wonders man. I droped a quart of primer on my car (stupid story) but anyways dent guy came out and had it out in 30 mins and cost $100

It's hard to have cars like these and kids. The kids parked their bikes in the garage next to my wife's Vette a couple days ago. I went out later and one of the bikes had fallen against the Vette. The brake handle did a nice job on the paint. :RantExplode:
My wife was pretty calm about the whole thing. I told the kids they better save up there Christmas and birthday money this year because they get to pay for it(We will see if the wife let's me go through with it).

I won't let my kids open a car door in the garage or open the doors on the Charger at all.  Overkill probably but..
In any case, sometimes those dent removal guys can be pretty amazing so you could be okay and laughing about it in a week month year oh alright so you won't be laughing about it but you should be able to get it out.

Thanks for your advice and comments, and I don't think I'll ever laugh at this in the future but I hear ya.  It's good news to hear everone thinks these guys do great work.   :2thumbs:  I'll let ya know. Thanks.

That's only if they can reach it.  If not they sometimes drill a hole to get to it.  But when I tried to get one to do my H2 a few years ago, couple dings on the roof, he said he couldn't do it at all. So, i've heard some good things about them, but never seen anything they have done personally.  Good luck.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I have personally used paintless dent removal (Dent Wizard, etc), a few times on my personal vehicles. One was on my '98 Ram 2500 after getting the windshield replaced. Well, I had a new windshield, but it also came with 8 dents in the hood left by the guy who installed the windshield.  :flame:  Dent Wizard got them ALL out, there wasn't even a trace.
Next was on a '07 Ram with a dented 1/4 by a shopping cart. DW got it out 85%, but you could still see an imperfection.

If there is ANY paint damage, fuggetaboutdit. If they can reach the backside & the metal isn't creased, you stand a good chance. If it is in a higher strength area (close to a wheelhouse, corner of a door jamb, etc), it might be tough. It couldn't hurt to have it looked at by DW, they'll tell you right away if they can't do it. Or, at least they might be able to make it look better than it does now.
Good Luck.

As for the paint, there is a small mark.  I once asked a vette guy with a 66 conv vette in black how he kept the nose so spotless?  He said when he would get a chip he would fill it in, then take a new pencil with the round eraser and glue on a small round piece of body paper and just rub the spot smooth.  It took a few hours over all but I couldn't find a spot?  I feel the nick will be almost gone when worked on.  As for the ding, it is about 2" below the beautiful curve of the rear 1/4. No crease, just a small ding noticeable from an angle view.  I'm going to remove the rear interior panel and he should be able to reach it through there even if I have to remove the window regulator etc..  I'm thinking of dropping a board from the ceiling down to the floor with one of the barricades mounted to it so this can't happen in the future.  Wish me luck and I'll update when it's over.  Thanks all. :icon_smile_wink:

If you get a good PDR (paintless dent removal) guy , He can perform miracles. Some are good , some aren't so great.

Ive personally had the best luck with Dent Wizard though , so maybe you are in luck there.

Exactly, it's only a car.   I, too, am glad you're not reproducing.  ;)

Sorry Rob.  Hopefully your kids learned something from this & the dentman undents your p/ride.

Only if Bob was.

Like others have said, some are better then others, Being in the body shop business 25 years I've seen these guys remove hundreds of Dents, Some results are totally unnoticeable & some not so unnoticeable. I seen a Kid that was pretty good while a old timer that taught the class's not as good as this kid which I thought was unusual. Pick a winner. As for the nick it's possible to touch up the nick with a touch up brush or 00 Pinstrip brush then sand & rub. LEON.

In case anyones wondering?  I called the dent dude and he left a message back.  I called him about 4 more times and haven't heard a thing.  So I'm done with him and times are financially tuff so I'll let it be for now and take that same 100.00 I put to the side to get some seat belts for the car, that's a bigger priority.  I'll deal with the ding next spring.  I know it's there but most people don't even see it.  Get back to ya.

I purchased a Ding King tool off of ebay for $16.00 and its the one of the best tools I've ever had. I had a couple of dents in my 73 Charger that I didn't want to use filler in. It took a couple pulls just like the instrucctions said it would, but it pulled them all back perfect. I've also pulled a couple of parking lot dings from my silver 07 R/T with it. I recommend it to anyone even if you have sharpe creases it will cut the job in half.

you can always try dry ice to pop out that dent, the dry ice makes the metal remember its true form and goes back to how it was I read it somewhere.  :Twocents:
