What colour should these be

Should they be painted black or bare metal. (exhaust tip mounts & bumper guards bolt to this on 2nd gen chargers)

 on my original paint 63 K mile  car
they  looked like  bare  metal / rust & factory  undercoating  from memory  .. ..  ,  after the resto i  painted them in a cast iron type paint . ...
think from memory there was a thread on this  part sometime ago .............. ..............

I've always seen black. That is how I painted mine.

By the way, nice to see the english language spelt correctly (colour)
