Anyone using the Summit Brand headers?

I am using the Summit headers on my car because thats what I could afford. I am having alot of problems with excessive heat from these things.
Anyone else have these and have the same problem?

I was going to use them, but I was talking to my wife about using these because my 496 project has already went way overbudget, even though I would rather use the Hedman Elite headers. Her response:"Why? You've might as well use the better stuff now."

Gotta love my wife. Even though she just gave me the rolling eyeballs about all the money going in the car the day before, she still said that.

By the way, the paint will be the next think to start coming off the headers besides heat. I understand the money thing though. You go with what you can. My cousin went with cheaper headers and bought the DEI wrap. He wishes he went with better headers. The wrap looks nice for a while, but as soon as oil drops on it, it starts looking not so nice. The wrap does keep the heat out of the engine bay though. Yours are already hooked up and that would make it a pain to wrap them now. Easier to do when they are out of the car.

Will the wrap really help that much? I mean I can't control the vapor lock that I'm getting from these. I did have a little bit of
wrap and wrapped the end of the header by the collector close ct to the fuel line. I also moved the fuel line to the outside of the frame and into
the wheel well then into the engine compartment. The car now will idle all day long without vaporlocking until I close the hood. Then its
sputter sputter sputter.

Have you tried putting a heat sheild in for the carb? I have seen guys do this. I never have, but maybe that would help.

I absolutely cannot recommend wrapping the headers.
I have done it on another car and the heat warped the flange making them leak badly- after milling them flat I tried it one more time, this time the one of the primaries develloped a crack.

Have got ceramic coating now(inside and out)- no problems, just don't break an engine in with them.
