Why are Hemi fenders worth more than standard fenders?

I found a guy who has both sets.  He wants to charge more for the Hemi fenders.  He said the other fenders are in a lot better shape, but they came off a small block rig.  Why are Hemi fenders always so much more? ??? :icon_smile_big:

Troy

What car? I think the e-bodies used different fenders on T/As, AARs and Hemi cars but I don't remember different ones on Chargers. Maybe I just never read that far... :P

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Who cares?  If the cheaper fenders are in better shape then buy those suckers!

Troy is right, only T/A's, AAR and Hemi Cuda fenders should be driffrent and that is a little bite of a lie. The wheel lips where about 1/2" bigger to clear the larger tires. But when the works ran out of the right fenders they just bent the normal fenders with vice gripps.

I did a 32,000 68 Hemi Charger (thanks Steve) and couple of normal 68 Chargers and the fenders are the same.

Reason they are more, because they think they are Hemi fenders. Far as I know there is no number's stamped on fenders that would show a Hemi VIN. But the cheaper ones.

PS, I have a Hemi steering wheel I will sell you ;D

I thought that the Hemi / aar fenders simply had a factory rolled lip at the top.

Maybe it is the same for b body ???

C'mon now.  You can't tell me there isn't a price difference when they're advertised as Hemi versus standard :P  :stirthepot:
I have to laugh, lots of views before someone piped up, makes ya' wonder.

If you have some kind of documentation on that wheel Ken, get back to me.

I remember reading about the E-Body cars having different fenders too, (Like 25 years ago) but that was the only one, not B-Body cars. I don't think it would matter much for clearance, & the only one that would know the difference might be a judge for a concourse caliber Mopar show. If they're in worse shape, I'd pass & get the better ones personally. (Worth more? Not to me.)

Those Hemi fenders are lighter...they were needed to compensate for the heavier, slower hemi engine. I would imagine that's why they want more for them. If you believe that, i've got a nice piece of land for sale down in Florida...high and dry too !   Same fenders went on all those cars...

I have one "hemi" fender on my Challenger(former owner put on it), it looks the same but the Hemi one is other metal and much thiner(weigh like half of the stantard fender) but they pick up bondo much easyier to, so the show goes on;)
But still people try to sell on the Hemi fake style, i mean look at Egay and every Challenger and Charger have Hemi word in the description... :rotz:

I know I'd rather say my fenders are off a real Hemi car, than a 318 car, even though they are the same, but that's just me.

As Ken said the Hemi E bodies and T/A and AAR s had the wheel lip radiused more to clear the larger tire. On B bodys- no  difference.

For a nominal fee of course, you guys can ship parts you're getting ready to sell to me.  I'll either bolt them on my car somewhere, or just lay them on top.  Then you can advertise them on eBay as having been pulled off a Hemicar...

Truth in advertising, y'know....

  :P

P.S.  My '69 has its original fenders, and there's no difference between them and a regular fender.

Do you guys always type the word HEMI in the description line when searching ebay?  I dont, i just use 68 69 70 Charger and see what comes up.  How many car guys type in HEMI only when they are searching for a specific part?

Personally?  hardly ever...

I find it quite humorous to see the over-use of that word.  95% of the time (or more) it does not differentiate that part over any other part, but sellers still throw that in there.

dkn1997

there was a guy on egouge last year selling a "hemi" radio.  stupid ass...

Believe it or not , there are people out there stupid enough to buy into all this' Hemi parts' stuff.I guess they think the bragging rights is worth the extra $$$$. LMAO. And I have never heard where T/A, AAR,or Hemi fenders were any different than any other E-Body.Check your part numbers, I think they will all be the same.

It works for DCX.

As for the E-body ones, Hemihead, it is true.  The Hemi and TA cars had the radius rolled for bigger tires.  They are also frequently referred to as 15 inch fenders.  Dick Landy used to do the same thing to all his Hemi cars with a baseball bat wedged against the tire.  ;D

This is the first I've heard of an ebody having different fenders as well.

Ghoste

The 70 Challenger and the 71 Barracuda models had three each actually.  As for the part numbers, just as an example, I didn't bother to look them all up, 1970 Barracuda fenders have a right side number of 3419 874 and Hemi Cudas have a right side number of 3579 378.

I've wondered that too.
These days, typing HEMI into your search is almost as bad as just searching from the front page of the parts section. ::)

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
