Mr. Angry Model Build (Set back.....3/25/09)

The 73s AREN'T easy to come by. The least expensive kit to find for a 73 Charger is the old MPC "Supercharger" kit. Red on the box with Cragar Super Tricks.

Expect to pay about 45 bucks or so for one, but sometimes you CAN get lucky.

About all you can do is hit the bay every once in a while and do a search.

I have I have 5 different model versions in the box of 73'-74' Chargers. I was just hoping he had one or a shell in his collection maybe.
I have been into the Mopar hobby for many years and collected some rare toys.
I just do not have any doubles of any. I am trying to find all the 3rd gen kits I can. I think there are a few more 73-74 Charger variations, then I will have to start on the hard to find 71-72 kits.

How's that build going?

The body is painted, chassis is done (exhaust, front and rear suspensions), interior is 50% done.

Next step is doing the chrome on the windows, putting the stripe on, then clearcoating it.

I'm waiting for the aftermarket distributor and wires to come so I can start working on the engine.

My goal is to get it done by November 8th (big model car show) but it will be hard due to the detail I'm putting in the car.

The wheels aren't as deep as the 1:1 wheels but its the closest thing I could find....



Coming up with ideas on how to do the belts....


Removed the front bumperettes...now the question is..how will I "fill in" the chrome where I removed the bumperettes....

Hopefully I'll get the stripe on this weekend and do most of the chrome trim. I want it done hopefully by November 7th (model car show) but I doubt it.....

Cody, the best way to solve the bumper dilemma is to COMPLETELY dechrome the bumper, CAREFULLY remove the bumperettes and then smooth it with a polishing kit, then use ALCLAD on them so they look chrome again, you can also have them replated.

Chrometech is the best place for that. I'm debating which way I will go with Mine and the one I am doing for Mike.

The wheels are a real issue. I jokingly told Mike once that he needed to put a different set on there to make my life easier. 

Then a model buddy MADE and cast me a set of wheel centers that fir the pegasus custom wheels, then we're back to that Chrome issue again. I've had to search to get a tire set together and honestly DON'T know where the fronts came from. I just lucked into 4.

Man there are so many compound curves in 68-70 Charger bumpers, getting smooth BMF on those things is pretty much impossible. I've tried it and it's a freakin NIGHTMARE!

Thats the problem...the model show is in a week and a half. Looks like Mr.Angry might not make it (I'll try my best). I'm gonna work on my '70 Challenger T/A to get it ready for the show. Barrelcuda is almost done.

I won't be able to finish the model for the show. Mainly because I want to wire this engine (which means I would have to buy the stuff from the US because the stores here dont sell that stuff)...it would take over a week for a money order to get down there and then another week for the stuff to get here. The show would be over by then. Plus, rushing a model only helps you make mistakes.

I'm putting the model aside for now so I can finish Barrelcuda and a Challenger T/A for the show. I'll be building Mr.Angry over the winter so I can take it to a show in March (the show I was originally wanting it done by).

So.....I just got some news.


I was planning on building the model for a show in March which I was really excited for and was building a lot of models for. I just got an email saying it's been cancelled due to lack of sponsorship due to the economy. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!


Although I'm bummed, of course the build will continue!
