Wipers wont "hide"

Not sure where to post it, so mods im sorry if wrong section

My wipers on my 73 wont "hide" under the hood. I remember reading a post from (believe it was a second gen) that its simply some bushings that are worn but cant find the thread. What parts do i need to replace to get them to work properly?

Make sure they are not hanging up on the hood, mine do and will not hide. I have to raise the hood each time I want to use my wipers or hide them. Do you have 2 or 3 speed wipers?

Not hanging up on the hood, they just stop with half the wiper below the chrome trim at the bottom of the windshield. I have to then manually move them down.

eeeeehm... well... three speeds parking stuff is built in motor shaft, not described on those threads... yet!!! but if wipers are at least getting on lower molding surface, then maybe is not the motor

Try removing the cowl covers and watching the wipers move. The shaft should come out and spin when you turn it on and when you turn it off, the shaft should pull in just before it parks. If the park is working right it should look like it is spinning kinda weird right before it parks.

I have the same problem, but of more concern is the fact that the wipers hit the stainless steel trim while they are in use. It thuds down on the trim on each stroke.

Any ideas ? It's a 71 Charger with 3 speed wipers.

I am not really sure how the 3 speed wipers work because they were on my last charger. I guess that it could be possible that you have the linkage from a 2 speed but I don't even know if that will fit or somehow bent. Take off your cowl covers, turn on the wipers, and watch the linkages move and see if anything looks bent or weird.

Looking at the wipers theres a alot of play. I can take the blade and move it almost up a above the lower window trim. So is it possible that the bushings or possibly the motor is worn out too much??

Where is the shaft pointing, by the hands of a clock, when you turn off the wipers.
