With all due respect to the areas that got really hit by this storm, I have to say that on Long Island, The hype was so feverish that you would think that Jesus had just risen from the dead and the judging about to begin.  what a crock!!  had some wind and some rain.

Are we that bored that the media feels that they need to scare the crap out of everyone anytime any storm comes along?  I swear I remember them predicting the weather way better as a kid growing up in the 70's.

You have to hand it to the media, they tried to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.   This mornings' paper lead with "We got Soaked"  The stories that followed of the hardship and sacrifice:  saplings lost, puddles driven through, raincoats donned, schedules and plans delayed and deferred for minutes on end....oh the humanity!

It's about time someone gets canned for falsely predicting this nonsense.

It must be a dream job to land a weather gig in Florida or Kansas. The weather people around here have zero to talk about. They do however get major exposure being in NY.

LOL... never thought about it that way.. but i am sure the weather guys/gals out here are sitting high on the hog.

I'm really tired of the Hannah hype.  And Miley Cyrus too!~  Enough already!

Huh??  Oh, my bad.  Nevermind.

Down here in Virginia, it wasn't any better.  Our Govenor declaired a "State of Emergency" before the storm even got here.  What we wound up getting was a long slow soaker, something we really needed after a long dry spell, and within hours of the rain stopping, all puddles were gone!

We didn't even have any wind.  I've seen summer breezes kick up more furry than Hanna did.  :smilielol:

So did I.  She isn't 16 just yet, a day after my birthday(23 november).  I've been following the controversy for a little bit now because i was originally appalled by the picks in vanity fair, but hey, it's a new fast moving world out there and I'm way behind I guess.

IMO, kids are trying to grow up too fast these days and the mainstream is not helping out at all.  I really hope she can stay on track and stay the course and actually be somewhere when she is 20+ and doesn't fall into the Britney phase, but I just don't know.

She has written a pretty good amount of songs thus far and might have a future in the business once she really grows up.  Hollywood is killing these kids at an early age just to make a quick buck off kids of the same age and younger(really sad).  I guess the good thing is BRC is her dad and he has dealt with this as he rose and fell just as quick.

I feel this kid has a pretty good head, but she is still an adolescent and will make some mistakes along the way(ie:stupid myspace pics and the whole vanity fair thing), but I think/hope dad will pull the reigns cause he is in the biz, like it or not.  I actually heard a song from BRC the other day in a quick clip and it was pretty good. :Twocents:

Good luck Miley/Smiley/Destiny Cyrus, my fingers are crossed for you.

Disclaimer: my best friend has a 14yo and a 15 yo that i've known all my life and that is why i research these things to keep them in check, and I give it to them straight....15yo is all set but the younger one(my goddaughter is on a path to hell already)     I ain't no perv.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Good for you Mike.  I have a daughter that is 11 years old and a big Hanna fan so I know exactly where you are coming from.  Keep'em safe.

I've even gone as far to watch a couple episodes of HM on the Disney channel.  Not, bad but still a little too grown up at times.  They still keep it light, but there are hidden, scratch that, too many grown up messages in there.  Think bugs bunny/Warner Bros.  back in the old days.....

Hell, I still watch "Saved By The Bell, " which for some dumb reason I like because it was (and I can't believe i'm saying this)... pretty wholesome
Good content and tried to always err on the good side of a lesson(with a little Zack Morris thrown in there for good measure, but he always got his due).  (and who doesn't love Kelly Kapowski) :icon_smile_big:

I've said too much.
I just like to check the world I guess.  :yesnod:

Hope everyone stays safe in these Hurricanes to keep on topic. :2thumbs:
