Hi!

My engine is going to the dyno in about two weeks!
It has been built by me with some help from friends and an enginebuilder!
What do you think??

-68 440 block, 030 bored and stroked to 496 cui.
Srp pistons 11.7-1 comp ratio.
Crank and rods from Ohio crankshaft,  balanced.
Indy -1 kit.
Ported heads and intake, not a lot but matched and cleaned.
Howard roller cam   .645 lift  318 duration.
millodon external oil system.
homemade oilpan  (made from a stock oilpan)  7 liters + filter.
Mallory distributer.
Mancini girdle
Mighty Demon 850 carb     (probably to small, will bring a proform 1000cfm also)
TTI step headers.
millodon hi perf waterpump.
ATI superdamper.

It will run on 95 octane with 10% E85

oldschool

i say 700 hp,with the proform carb. scrap the demon carb. i like your combo. it is very close to one of my motors. those 440-1 heads make alot of horsepower! :yesnod:

also try a 2" spacer that opens up to a 4500 dominator, that would be worth about another 25 hp,with a dominator.
1968 cuda formula S bb 4-sp                          1968 Charger R/T 500" 4-sp

TOO MUCH HORSEPOWER, IS ALMOST ENOUGH!

I'd say you better get the right air cleaner so it fits with the hood down.  :yesnod:  Looks sweet.  :drool5:   Far as HP I say 620 to 630.

I hope you are right Oldschool and Firefighter!!

The goal from the beginning was 700 hp.
But back then (4.5 years ago) it was supposed to be a blown 440!!

Right now I´m happy just if it wont break!

Should make 670 or there about....you need more carb than an 850.......whats the ICL and lobe spread on the Cam?

Indy -1 are pretty big ports...they can be a little lazy off idle without some gear to get them up in the 'happy zone' around 4K @ 500".

You can make 700 with a tune and I'd look at putting the cam in early (like ~104) to give it some more grunt in a Charger body. If you really want to wake it up use the MW Indy 440-2D....it'll support 700+ with a little porting of the lower plenum and will have better average torque for street driving. works "pretty well" on this one!!

BTW.....Hope you're touching up them Valve seats on a Serdi!!!! :eek2:

 :iagree:

i use indys dual plane on my 3 500" motors.they all make 700 plus hp. their dual plane is the best on the market! it will cost a little horsepower up top,but the very broad torque curve will be well worth it,especially on a street car. they work really well!

I'd say 590 hp...the short side radius in those pictures look pretty un happy... square edge...there's potential but they (short sides) need some finesse :Twocents:

charger_fan_4ever

Dyno #'s are nice for a car show, but how the whole car moves down the track is where the real story unfolds. Hot air from the engine bay, how tight the converter is, rear gear ratio, chassis flex ect.

My guess would be 630 on the engine dyno with a big fan.

racecharger

Hi!

Was at the dyno yesterday!
The result is:

640 hp 776 Nm  with the demon 850 an 99 octane!

673 hp 819 Nm  with a 1000 cfm E85 carburetor!

Thanks for the great responce here

Nice power numbers !  :2thumbs:

I would like to see it with a Dominator mounted up top....pretty sure it would break 700hp  :yesnod:

There is no tunnel but it looks like it on the picture.   its just a scoop to keep the oil from flowing backwords too easy during acceleration!

Maby this one shows it better.
