Sorry if it has been asked before, I tried a couple searches but didn't have much luck.
Is there like a stencil or something to paint on the r/t stripes on a 68 or is it strictly measure a correct one and tape it off yourself?
I figured Id go with paint over stickers since it'll be on there for the long haul and the color Id like the stripes in I doubt I could find in sticker form  :D.

there are a few more colors you can get on a '68 then the other years...
black, white, red, green, and gold.
they come in DECAL form from several sources, but  if you want a custom color you can paint it yourself, several folks here i'm sure will be happy to help you with the dimensions...    :popcrn:

what are your plans Finn?..

Finn

Thanks for the reply!
Id like to match it too the wheels I picked out:

A couple other areas on the car well be using the same color and I think it'll look good with the black.
Also another concern that will have to be addressed is my custom quarter panel extensions. I posted them before they were finished a long time ago and Im at school now so I don't any pics with me but they "flare" out now so instead of the V bend in the stripe I may have to change it to match. Ill have to tape out what the standard stripe would look like on the car before I could say for sure though.
The shape now follows the shape of the leading edge of the car so I guess you could describe it as a "w"??

GM Code #84 gunmetal gray met looks similar to your wheel color? LEON.

If you want to paint on the stripes, best way to do it is with a stencil. Contact the guys over at Phoenix Graphics. They helped me out a TON when I painted the "440" callouts on my '69 hood.
If the stock stripe dimensions will work, they can make you a "negative" stencil pattern you can use.
Good luck!  :2thumbs:

FYI - We called Phoenix Graphics asking if they would sell us a "negative stencil" for 68 stripes. We are applying a custom color as well.

We got a "no thanks" from them.

Try Performance Car Graphics.

I found them pretty customer friendly when I bought stuff from them. I'm not saying they can definitely help, but I found their prices and customer service to be pretty good.

Performance car graphics sold me a 68 negative, which after talking to the painting it turns out he wants a positive (stripe color on first, stencil on, main color, stencil off) since the stripe color has flakes or something in it that make over spray a bitch. I have the 68 negative still though and I don't think he'll need it. Ill double check but if you still need one let me know.
