WOOO HOOOO!

Took a ride up to the body shop for a little visit with my 71 sixpack car.....just a little more blocking and it ready! He's going to start edging and assembly soon...I can't wait to see her back in one piece. I didn't take any pictures but I will post some up after she is edged.

OK...A couple of questions......

1. Who sells the correct undercoating? I want this to be done the "correct" factory way, so the underside needs to get undercoated. If anyone has pictures of the spray pattern please post them up so I have something for him to go by.

2. Where is a good place to buy all new hardware for the fenders/hood/splash pans?

Also, please post up any pictures of the proper overspray pattern so I can duplicate that. I only have one chance to get this right so I'm counting on you guys to help me out. Thanks!!!!

PS...the freaking thing looks GREAT in prime....can't WAIT to see it in color...I've never seen a car that is more straight then this one. If you guys have ever seen my 69...it's straighter than that!

Good news on your Charger Doug,
For the undercoating you might want to look at the 3M Body Schutz product.  It is over the counter but you will not find it at the local auto parts store.  Mostly in auto paint stores.  You need to buy the applicator gun and you use your compressor, it is not in a spray-bomb can.
this is a very thick bumpy undercoat that I think is very accurate without being mega-expensive.  If you are going balls-out on this you might try getting a hold of Frank Badelson, I think he and Roger Gibson sell a product they they consider spot-on for their restorations.
Frankly I've done some work on their cars and although they do much better work that I can, I still think the 3M product is closer to original Chrysler undercoat.  :Twocents:

As for photos of the pattern it really depends on a few factors, not every car is the same.  Again, try looking at Roger Gibson's web-site.  They have some pictures of cars they've done and some originals.  You might find a 71 Charger you could look at.
Hope this helps!

Hey you finally have some good news in the car department!!!  Buy Resto Rick's undercoat and you can get the fasteners from Tom @R/T Spec.   Here's a shot of one of my wheelwells to give you an idea but look @ Hoffmans site to see the 69 Coronet they did a few years back with real nice wheelwell shots...

Another e body, don't know what year and if this one's restored or cleaned up original.

I think the earlier years f8 didn't get the radiator support black out.  I have lots & lots of pix of various years, models of that.  I've spent a lot of time researching that if you'd like pix.

Check the link out Doug. It is the factory way. It is a 2ed gen but should be close.

I did mine similar but taped it off for a cleaner look since I painted the bottom it will never be a factory correct car anyway. I used ricks stuff too but LEON showed a pic on my resto thread of 3M and it will work and get the thick look and is cheaper too.

Oh heck ya! Post 'em up dude! Any of the underside near the sides showing overspray? How about the rear wheelwells?

Anybody know if the cars were completely finished when the did the undercoating or were the partially assembled?
