Chuck's Brother and his wife are in Bidor, Texas. He works a pipeline there. Their gonna be evacuating probably tomorrow. Last time they had to leave, they went all the way to Texarkana. They may have to go further this time. Their regular home is in Tenn. But they are in a 40' travel trailer down at a R.V. park. He makes good money there, I just don't think it's worth this crap! Good luck to anyone in Ike's path!

They may have to go further this time. Their reguler home is in Tenn. But they are in a 40' travel trailer down at a R.V. park. He makes good money there, I just don't think it's worth this crap! Well, when I talked to my sister-in-law yesterday, she "said" bidor! Could be Vidor? But she has a very heavy southern drawl, and it's worse over the phone! All I know, is it's between Beaumont & Orange, just above Port Arthur, Texas!

I called today to see if the in-laws wanted to drive up here to be a little safer. They've decided to stay put. They live in Champion Forest so they should be out of the flood area. The sis-in-law and her family live in Clear Lake and they have moved up to her dad's in Champ Forest. They may end up with 11 feet of water in their home there in Clear Lake. Hope not.

The storm wil track right through here and the eye should hit us 24 hours after it hits you guys. We're 500 miles north of you.  The winds should be down to around 65 mph by the time it gets this far north.

We moved from Spring, TX in '82. We returned to the Houston area in '83 to work claims from Hurricane Alicia. I spent a lot of time on Galveston Island handling insurance claims. Neighborhoods that I had visited in '82 were no longer there. It was difficult finding the homes that were left since all of the street signs were gone. Many of the vehicles and boats that I had to look at were hundreds of yards from the house.
Alicia was a Category 3, but was much smaller than Ike.
We're thinking of all of you.

I'm close to the downtown area, medical center, and we just got our power back on There was minor flooding/leaking but was contained and was much luckier than others. Others more south,however, will prolly be out of power for a few more days if not a couple weeks. Got lucky over here on this one.
