How to do this?

My challyproject will be full of body/metalwork. :eek2: After an accident the lines and gaps made somebody weld the front  bumperbrackets
to the framerail and not only that :brickwall: they had to destroy the original holes by filling/welding them. Now is the question how I can get
nuts welded on the inside of the frame after I have drilled out what's in there? :scratchchin:

i would see if you couldnt get the nut back there and thread a bolt onto it. then see if you can use the bolt to hold the nut in place while you weld it.

How can you weld inside the framerail? :scratchchin:

If the weld is just filling the threads of the existing nut, try drilling through the weld with the proper sized drill to tap new threads.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

If not possible, is the alternative to cut the piece      where the boltholes are out to be able to weld the nuts on the backside?

I did this repair on my Daytona clone.

The threads in the front frame rails were stripped where the front bumper brackets bolted on.

There is a heavy steel plate with threaded holes in it spotwelded to the inside of the frame rail.

I'm pretty sure Challengers are built the same way as Chargers in this area.

I was able to drill out the spotwelds and pull the plate out through the front of the framerail.

I then welded nuts to the plate, put it back in the rail, bolted it in place with my bumper bolts, and fill-welded the holes once occupied by the spotwelds.

Worked pretty slick, but the catch is I had to remove the lower radiator support to get the plates out of the framerails.

I already had it off to replace it, anyway...

So it wasn't a big deal for me...

Here's a pic of the end of the framerail where I pulled the plate out after removing the radiator support and drilling out the spotwelds in the threaded plate...

Thanks for sharing Daytona. At least I know it's possible now, just need the skills. :eek2:
