So I got bored the last day or so and decided I would start messing with the gauges for my 68 since my 69 is on a standstill right now. Anyways I ended up converting my tic toc tach using auto meter guts and I think it came out awsome!

heres the gutted tach

Here is the new internalls mounted up

Just about done

I still have to mount it back in the casing but that should be easy.

Would anyone be interested in having this done to their tach?

here is the volt gauge. It reads about 0 amps when it has 12.5 volts running through it.

Would love to see if the tach actually works & is accurate....the "bounce" of the factory needle is annoying as hell....

Do you like that new G2?  Haven't tried the purple yet.

Oh nice job on the gauges by the way.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I hooked up the tach today and it works great! Took a few minutes to adjust it, but now it works perfect. I had my tic toc in my 69 converted by redline gauges, it was reading 1,000 rpms at idle. The gauge I made was reading 1,000 rpms also! ;D   I held the motor at 2,000 rpms, and my tach was also right at 2,000, same deal with 3,000 rpms. Im pretty stoked right now.

Real Time Engineering,Has Exact replacement pieces for the Tic-toc tac.At about 75.00 each I put them in myself and they work great.

I have heard from a few people that the RTE set up is not very accurate, plus I just had this stuff laying around so I figured what the hell cant mess it up anymore  Plus I dont care for the bounce of the factory tach needle. The RTE setup is just a new bored, this is entirely new internals.

Does it bounce when revving up & down or is it rock steady?

no bouncing, it acts just like an auto meter tach, nice and steady!
