Has anyone cleaned up their leaf springs in regards to smoothing out the little imperfections to the surface due to slight pitting from normal weathering/corrosion? I really want to keep my springs natural without any paint.... Then I'll install all new insulators and clamps...

Thanks in advance...

Grinding would make them thinner. Filling the pits would be obvious if you leave them natural. In other words I don't think it's gonna happen. If they are pitted and is noticible you need to fill & paint them or get new ones. But who would notice that anyway  :shruggy: :Twocents:

I've already started into one side.. I'm going to wire wheel the individual leafs.. They still will retain their cold steel look and be clean clean clean... I'll coat them with a clear corrosion control and then reassemble them with all the new plastic and zinc inserts and clamps.. I'll have the new hangers and shackles.. So, she'll be nice....... Like you said, you rarely see them anyhow unless you climb under the car or are behind it at a distance..........
