Ok a few questions.

These questions are for my Belvedere. First one the rear passenger door (driver side) has always been hard to shut (I would have to slam it hard to close it) and just the other day when I slammed it shut it did not fully lock and when I went to open it from the outside the button would not open it so I had to open it from the inside and slam it so hard shut that I am afraid I am going to bust the glass out of it. Now I did check the jam and there was nothing there stopping it from closing all the way. Please someone tell me this is just a simple misalignment of the door :shruggy: Second question on the front passenger side door I realized the one of the pins appears to be pulling out from the correctly seated position, what would cause this to happen and how would you pound it back down, I need to get a picture of it because it is in a tricky position to do any work on it. And third and last question A bird decided to target my car recently and due to the fact that I didn't see it until I came home from work at about five in the evening it was baked on there pretty good :flame:  I have tried everything to get it off with no success and now that it has been on there for a while do you think I will need to get it buffed out because it looks like there were a few areas where this happened a long time ago and the bird crap was removed but there are bumps in the paint and showing primer in a few areas that and there are a few areas where there are a few specks of rust that are very tiny but are showing through the paint. Another thing is the paint is the original paint so I don't know if that would cause any problems with having it buffed. And I do have a car cover coming in so I can cover the car because no matter where I park it I am under a tree and I would rather not have to deal with this bird issue again :brickwall:

One more for you guys it rained pretty good today and I noticed that there was a good amount of water in between the quarter panel and trunk floor I have sealed up all the wholes in the rear window channel (I think.) Where else could the water be seeping in from?  The same thing is happening on the other side but there is only a very little amount compared to the other side.

terrible one

How's your trunk seal?

Agreed, first place i'd start.  Sounds like it to me or the striker has been pushed back as well.

Also agree with TO, how's the trunk seal?  Get one of your friends inside the trunk with a flashlight and run a water hose where you think it is leaking, that will work, as i've done it myself. Make sure the trunk is opening and closing with no problems before you do this cause you don't want to kill your friend or yourself. :Twocents:

What kind of bird crap won't come off after a day, are they pterodactyls or something. :icon_smile_big:

As far as the pin goes you need this and then put a keeper back on the underside.  it's like a push washer that helps hold the pin from working it's way out.

when the pic comes up hit "more/larger images" and check out the dude with the hammer putting this invaluable tool to use. :2thumbs:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

On the paint deal, you said original paint.  That is a lot of years of weathering going on there, washing, waxing, buffing, you get the idea.  If it were a newer car i'd say clean, wet sand with 2k and then buff.

Believe it or not, spit is a good way to remove bird crap. :Twocents:

I would just use warm water and soap on a clean soft rag and wipe it gently until it goes away(in a cool place/shade etc....let the spot go back to a reasonable temperature, hot equals difficult, like you never wax when the surface is hot, you get the picture)  If it damages the paint, really nothing you can do at this point because the paint is too old and the coats don't have enough left to let you do the aforementioned(wet sand/buff)
You might just have to live with it.

Ok I fixed the door closing problem I had to move the latch back as far back as possible because the more I brought it forward the worse it got. Yes there are pterodactyls here why do you think so many people want to come here. But actually the birds around here eat a lot of acidic things so that plus the sun and heat baked it pretty fast and it looks like I am going to have to live with it I have tried something everyday on it with no success. And thanks for the link for the tool I am going to see if a place around here has one first before I go out and buy one. I will have to wait until the trunk dries out before I hop in there to check the seal.

maybe these guys can help you.  as in drive up there and see if they will let you borrow this tool.  you might get lucky, we have no problem helping people with little stuff all the time at no charge, as long as it doesn't turn into a project, and it usually gets us a 12 pack of our favorite beer.
good luck
