I'm trying to find this movie:

In the movie, unusual sunburst activities turned the world population to dust. Only a few lucky people with genetic mutations survived. It appeared to be shot in N Calif or in Oregon from what I remember.

Anyone got it?

Cooperman

It's called "Where Have All The People Gone" Starring Mission Impossible's Peter Graves.

I have it on DVD after asking the same question you just did!

i believe there was a remake (not sure, but the plot was incredibly the same) of this movie in the early 80's but they used the passing of a comet as the reason for the strange plague of death.

Night of the Comet was not too shabby, at least from my 20-something 1980's perspective it was ok. If I saw it now I might have a different opinion.

That perspective thing will get ya every time.  I get bit in the ass everytime an old show from my childhood comes up on reruns....most are simply unwatchable.

Yea, I also realized that about myself the first time I tried to reminisce with the movie "Better Off Dead" about five years ago.

It got better after the shock of the dancing burgers wore off, but it still doesn't really work for me these days.

I like it, then again, I 'm a Cusack fan. Lane wasn't a bad role back then for Johnny cause he was after all, a member of the famed Brat Pack and I think he's the best actor out of them all, IMHO.
He was very good friends with Jeremy Piven, but I think they had a falling out of some sort a few years back.  Makes sense as JP was always playing second fiddle to JC and is a pretty darn good actor himself.

Oh, I can't stand the fact that he is good friends with Tim Robins. Too close to Susan Saranwrap.

I'm rambling, what was the question..? :icon_smile_big:

I do agree though, some of the movies I watched early on and just had to have them nowadays, not the same....."seems like old times", is a great example for me, although it does has
some great quotes though.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?
