Whats the deal on the Nissan Skylines like in the F&F movies? I know they dont sell them in the us, but is there any way to get them shipped or something? ( i know that they are total rice, but im just looking for some info on them because im bored)

They are grey import here. No laws saying you can import them, no laws saying you cant. A lot of military guys who get stationed over in Japan will take a slightly valuable American cars over there, sell it, buy a Skyline, bring it back here, and sell it. My brothers Buddy in the Air Force was going to do that, but he didnt get stationed in Japan.

By the way, my bro has a very quick YFZ450. :coolgleamA:
I have a little Yamaha Breeze 125 that refuse's to sell. The money from it goes to a Charger. :brickwall:

Rolling_Thunder

they can be imported into the US but i hear is costs a lot of $$$...            I've also had friends export muscle and them import rice for killer profits.   :scratchchin:

I've seen a couple turn up at auction but since the average classic car collector isn't well versed on them, the couple of times I've seen them they haven't drawn any kind of money at all.  :shruggy:

When I was stationed in Japan, we could send a car home with us that we bought there.  BIG problem is the DOT would hold/sieze them and make you upgrade to all their safety crap before you could drive it away.   It cost upwards in the thousands to get this done.

get older 240 sx and do engine swap, it will be a skyline on budget.

The new one is being sold in the US. It has like 650hp and does 0-60 in 3.5 or something like that. I think it's $100,000 list.

I've only seen one here on the road, US 280 heading south about two years ago, i thought it was really plain and frankly pretty ugly... it was a dark mettalic green and if i hadn't noticed the round taillights i wouldn't have thought twice as i passed it.

Most of them have been tricked out that I've seen in pictures, and they make kits to make other US legal models look like Skylines...
If you see one odds are it's be here in Calif. or on the east coast...

& the new one's called the GT-R BTW.

here's the entertaining top gear vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2qviDTxLAQ
i've read they supposedly cost $ 70K  + but my friend who's a dealer said they're getting $40K on top they are so in demand.
i don't care for the overall look, but I love the interior.  :shruggy:

Actually it's 3.8L twin turbocharged 24 valve V6 pumping out 480hp at 6400rpm and it's $82,000 USD plus taxes  :icon_smile_big:

So is that Suburu WRX thing, I guess the ricers like fast but when it comes to styling all their taste is in their mouth.  :shruggy:

Forget the Jap cars and buy a new Challenger!! :patriot:

Charger74

There used to be a company that imported them.  Yes it was big money, but when bought through them, they were ready for the road legally.  This company took all the steps to make them street legal for the US.  But they went out of business, something that  the owner was found doing illegal or something.

Yes, the new ones are not nearly as, in my opinion, good looking as the orginals.  Mainly the R33 and R34s.  But can you complain when they can beat a lot of supercars with very little modes.  The old 2.6 inline alone could handle over 1100 hp before internal mods had to be done.

Ricer's ain't what they use'd to be...... :P

NMike

here in vancouver there are at least a dozen companies importing JDM cars and truck. in the automall where i work, there are two skylines and a JDM nissan 300.

:iagree: Honestly I would not see it worth it to pay all that money just to get one here and legal for the streets. And the older ones look way better than the new ones plus since they have already been imported it would be better to get one of those, let some one else spend all their money getting it here.

It's not because I happen to like the typical cars of the muscle car era that I hate everything else....

Sooooooooo, i must admit that I really like the skyline R34, in fact its kinda on my wish list. But I'm affraid that over here in Europe we are in the same situation as you guys.
They don't import them here exept for the UK. So the are very rare in the streets here too

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

ACUDANUT

In Europe, a New Challenger would really stand out better than a Nissan.  :yesnod:

Brock, that new Skyline you pictured back there looks like a 70s Aussie Falcon (Mad Max's black Interceptor) at the side windows & roof pillars.

True, true.....

When I'm asked what car I'd buy If money was'nt an issue people always excpect me to say something like "Porsche" or "Ferrari".
But if I say the new Challenger they of course ask why that car?
Makes sence tough......uncommon and cool car, what else does man want?

Not bad, but I think I'd rather have an uncommon & cool & vintage Challenger myself.  Or a vintage Charger.

Ghoste

If money was no object, it would still be an old Charger for me.  It'd just be a better one.  :icon_smile_big:

twin ceramic turbochargers, all-wheel steering, all wheel drive, and 280 hp (206 kW) at 6800 rpm. The RB26DETT engine actually produced ~320 hp, but it was unstated due to the Japanese car makers' "gentlemen's agreement" not to exceed 206 kW (276 hp). The engine was designed for ~500 hp in racing trim

is the 'deal' on those F n F cars.

Because only American cars lose value right?  I realize the Skyline is not a Civic but the new Challenger has some cachet as well.  Wait until the new Chally runs out and then compare values between the Skyline and the SRT8's.
