I almost wish they had followed through on their threat to crush it.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

That would certainly take care of my stand up General.

And the long saga of this car goes on.

They should have crushed it years ago. The owner is a dum ass 500 k  for what? A bondo buggy 318 car with a hemi stuck in it. You can buy at least four numbers mathing real Hemi  Chargers for tht price.

I almost hate to ask but I seem to be seeing a blower in the back seat and a pair of "dressed up" six year olds in the front. Is that what's really there?

That's why it is called the standup general  ::) If it wasn't in the back it couldn't pull the wheels.

I guess you guys know more about this car than I do. I do recall a thread about a WB GL for sale that had a sketchy past but nothing about a "stand up" general made to pop wheelies. Apparently I never saw that episode. :shruggy:

It wasn't a wheel stander for the show from what I recall, it was just made that way afterwards...  :shruggy:

The car was never in any episodes it was planned to be in the last season and then the show got cancelled

MoparManJim

The wheel stander is not stupid, The wheel stander was built back in 84 or 85 to be used in season 8 as I understand it, but like JT01 said the show got canceled in 7th season.

Now what I find stupid is folks saying these cars are stupid because of the paint job when in deed the person that is saying doesn't understand or think of it as all on the car is just paint that can always be repaint by the next owner to there likings, the push bar unbolted and the roll bars unbolts as while. Easy fix.

The guy that built the GL wheel stander past last year god rest his soul. The reason why alot of you don't know the car or seen it on tv is because it didn't get it's chance to make it's debut in season 8 like it was plan to. Yes the moto is in the back seat area (hench the name General Lee Wheel Stander). They had a problem as I heard with the engine though for on take offs. They needed a big carb to pull the trick off but yet they wanted to keep everything out of camera view so they went with a small carb which a I understand couldn't get the front tires off the ground.

I also agree for that price, no wonder the car doesn't sell, but think about this, you all complain all the time about US runing chargers when people makes them into GL clones, well how do you explain when the car gets crush? because your always complaining about people jumping chargers but to crush a car is alot worst! :smilielol:

Easy there! What most of them mean is the car ITSELF is stupid but the history it's caused (because of the new owner) lately. Most threads about this car get locked within days for a reason....

I'm sorry but there was a word in there that I change around it was "there" which I meant "these" and hit the R instead of the S. I also removed afew other words in there. Sorry about that. I meant no hard in my reply. I was just trying to point out afew these things about our cars and explain about the wheel stander as while at the same time.

What I meant was that because it was never used in a episode, it is not worth 500k in any way. And, why would somebody try to sell a car that high-profile on CL?

moparmanjim... the daughter of the builder has frequented this site in the past.. so MANY of us know about this car and its history considering we have read about this car not only here, but in the mopar collectors guide too.

I am really not wanting to post in this thread... and a part tells me I am an idiot in doing so, and ever since this thread got started I hoped it would just fade away, but alas... here are my words

Most of us know about this car, and probably a lot of us are not admitting to it, because this thread is about a vehicle that creates more animosity than some political debates.

So... on that note.. PLEASE TROY JUST DELETE THIS PUPPY AND LETS MOVE ON.

Since I somehow missed out on all the fun regarding this car I will say just two things about it:

1. If the car was never in a DOH show that was produced and aired it doesn't share the same fame as the cars that were. Other than it once being owned by WB (allegedly) there are no points given for "what might have been."

2. An unrestored GL, used in the show or not, is not worth $500k to anyone. If "Bo's General Lee" only sold for $450k in near-perfect condition at BJ there's no way an unrestored WB Charger with the engine in the back seat is going to sell for $50k more.

Mike DC

There's no real debate here.  Everyone (except the seller) is in perfect agreement that the $500K figure is a joke.  DOH fans and non-fans alike.

As for the car itself, IMHO it deserves to be seen as a virtually legit television GL.

To me the original crew's handiwork is worth more than whether or not it was used in front of a 35mm camera back in the day or not.  I'd rather have a never-used car right off the original "assembly line" than a GL that was technically onscreen but has been totally torn down & rebuilt a couple times since then.

Just my opinion.

And is still at the center of the same controversy.

I seem to recall the name Bill Sephton being the legit owner, right? Wasn't the cars title somehow forged, followed by a siezure by the police? The original owner died before the whole mess could be straightened out?

Good article - I never knew about that car and it's sordid history - I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole at any price.

I wouldn't turn down the blown 440 out of it though - not like it matches the VIN or anything :)

Read that article in MCG Kern - Sephton's wife's lawyer sold it illegally to pay back legal fees from the divorce, and now basically everyone involved with the car's ownership is dead (including the lawyer) and a mountain of tangled paperwork is all that's left.   People are asshats.

The owner was Rich Sephton.

He was responsible for a ton of the vehicle work on DOH, as well as lots of other TV/movies.  Nice friendly guy.

Was at B&B Hobby shop in Spokane just before Xmas.  The wife found a great 1/18th scale model of a sunfire yellow '68 Hemi Charger.  The owner started talking Mopars and said he had an original GL.  One thing led to another and he stated that he had the "stand up Charger" that had been in the news a few years back.  He said he was the one that "stole it back".  I'm not sure if he said he still had it or had sold it.......

Last I seem to recall was that Bubba 1 was changing a bunch of stuff on Lee 1 but seeing as how there isn;t much on there that really is Lee 1 I'm not sure if it matters.
It's a real shame about the Wheelstanding GL, nothing but headache from its creation.
