Anyone like Chrysler's new Inferno Red?

I have been looking at new trucks lately even though I can't afford one. I have to say the new Inferno Red is   a nice color..reminds me a little of R6.  I like the Flame red also but, this has more of a Candy look to it and not so orange.

I am strongly thinking about spraying the Challenger in it. The car was originally Ralley red but my wife says no.  :slap:

She does like the Inferno Red or Plum crazy. What do you think? Either way it will have a white top and interior.

I do think that DCX has done ONE thing right in the recent years, they have come up with some of the best stock colors in the industry. I like most of their reds and oranges...and Patriot Blue is also a great color. Do I agree with their naming their new orange "Mango"...No, but then again look what they did with the Charger name... :rotz:

Yes, Inferno is a nice color...it would look great on a REAL Charger IMO.

Yeah, Inferno red is nice, and red with white is the only way to go. ;)  I still prefer R6 though.

And Patriot Blue is gorgeous.

Well, it looks red. :shruggy:

The picture does not really do the color justice. You would have to see it in the sunlight for the true effect I guess.

Inferno red is a pretty color, but it was all most impossible to color match. Did a 2002 PT and son of a bitch spent more on paint than what I charged the customer. It is a tri phase paint, have shot a lot of tri-phase and never a problem with color match's. But for what ever reason this was a son of a b--ch. Paint it 4 times before we got it out the door.

Tri-phase? I take it that is  fancy talk for 3 stage?  I'm curious as to the process of putting down this color.
Is it a base coat color
Then a special second color coat
And finally a clear coat?

I just tried to look up the paint formula for inferno red on the DuPont database and it came back with this message:

No formula available. Due to unique pigmentation, this color is available only as a factory pack (pre-mixed by DuPont). Please check with your jobber for availability.

I like the color! Looks like my R6 red Charger. I have a Ram 2500 Quad Cab in Flame red and it draws a lot of praise as a good looking truck , but if I had it to do over again I would get Inferno Red. Attached is a pic of my Truck!!  Carl

yeah its pretty nice but im more of a fan of that pearlescent red on the magnums and the chargers its little darker i think it would look awesome on a 69 r/t it kinda reminds me of candy apple red-MATT

the inferno red on the cars seems different than the trucks for some reason, almost like its a full shade lighter, when you park them next to each other its real noticeable

Dodge actualy charges a premium for that color. Still, I bought my wife the Grand Caravan in Inferno red. I like it alot.

Yes I should have mentioned that. The truck has a $250 additional charge for the color. Honestly, if I were spending 40K+ on a new truck it would be in a color I like....no settling on such an important thing for me. Nothing worse than making house payments on a truck you can't stand looking at. ;)

I tried that as well, still did not match. I used the color panels for color matching etc evert trick I knew and then try other ones.

Called King Dodge head painter, all he said was "Good Luck".

Yes a tri phase is a 3 layer paint. Base, tinted clear and then the clear. I finaly painted the whole PT to get it to match. I used PPG and Duponte. Only other car I would not match was a silver 2003 VW Bug. Well the customer liked it and he was turing it in.

I love the color.  I've been seriously thinking of repainting my Charger Inferno Red when the time comes to give her a new paint job.  That may be within the next few years.

Which do you think is lighter...the car or truck Inferno red? I did see a minivan in it as well but it was on the other side of the lot and not side by side. Are the mix formulas different when ordering?

My parents had an '00 Intrepid in Inferno Red.  Cost a little extra, but was a beautiful color.

I didn't know it was around that long...of course the Chrylser cars have not really caught my attention as of late. The Ram 2500 Big Horn Cummins Diesel 6 speed in the Inferno red sure did though.  :drool5:

It wasn't a common color, due to the extra cost.

It looks good in certain lighting and absolutely horrible in others.   I would say it's an OK color to get if you were buying a new car but would go with a Kandy color if you were doing a repaint.    :Twocents:
