Well Gas price forced me to. After driving the v8 dakota for a few months at 4 dollar a gallon I finally had to bite the bullet and get me an econobox. a 2003 dodge stratus XST. Pretty nice little 4 banger though and really quick. Whats you think?

Looks alot like my dialy driver.  I also have a '96 Dakota Sport V8 5spd.  I was able to keep mine, and I'll use it for winter driving.  I have owned my Stratus R/T for one year on Tues.  I have the 3.0, leather, sunroof and I love it.  It is pretty quick too and I get 28-30 mpg!

Oh I kept my dakota. I aint geting rid of it yet. I just can't afford to commute with it. I was taking the bus but got placed on manditory OT so I had to start commuting again and the v8 dak was sucking up all my profit so I figured I'd just get a smaller ride to deal with that situation.  Couldn't do the R/T thing though. I was looking at um but the main purpose was to squeeze out as many miles as I could and the 4 banger should do quite nicely and any repair costs will probably be minimal if it comes up.
I'm looking forward to commuting back and forth in this thing and the stops at the gas station shouldn't be too bad either. :2thumbs:

wish I had the sun roof like you seem to though.

Those cars a really cute, I just can't picture myself climbing out of those little tiny windows!!    :icon_smile_wink:

Seriously, after the wreck (2 wks ago), we took a look at the new Challenger.  OH boy are those pretty.  We found an Orange RT with a Hemi that gave me goosebumps.  If it weren't for the pice tag,  :o  I'd stick it in the garage for 20 years to see what could happen with it's value.

Sorry to hear about your wreck.

I too would have rather of had one of the new challengers but as you also seem to have concluded, thats a bit above my price range and for me it wouldn't be very pratical either because I will need to be using this one for commuting. This Stratus R/T was only two grand more then my other one (the sxt model) and it gets basically the same gas mileage. Which one a very important factor in the purchase in the first place. The R/T stratus has a V6 3.0L verses the sxt has a 2.4 4 cyl but the gas milages is basically around the same for both. So I figured...what the hell, may as well have the cooler r/t model.  :D

Either way I'm really happy with the purchase. She will make a great commuter.
