Anyway, I was surfing craigslist, when I came upon a add for a 1970 Charger. Had grille, glass, taillights, and most exterior parts seen. However, is lacking Front Suspension, motor, trans, and interior. :eek2:

I emailed the guy, and sayed he'd take $1500 for it. Got picture of the floorpans, and one small spot of rust on the drivers side. I cant tell very well, but it looks like there is rust in the quarter, but not major. Also has title.

The ad:

Body only no motor or transmission no interior or gauges only has rear axle

Do you think it is worth what he is asking, or should I offer him less?? I am afraid it will sell soon if it is a good deal.

larger pictures might help  :slap:

Those are the only pictures from the ad, same size as they were in the ad. I cant get larger ones.  :brickwall:

It all depends on what is missing in the front end because if it is missing the K frame, control arms things like that you will be searching around for a while and end up paying a lot for the parts now if its just the general parts like ball joints, tie rod arms that not a problem. Also same thing goes for the interior there are some pretty expensive parts in there as well. Also motor and trans can be expensive depending on what you want to put in it. It almost seems like it was a parts car and he is trying to get rid of it. If I were you I would go look at it see whats all missing (and get some bigger pictures for us) and go home and figure out how much it is going to cost you to replace all the missing parts. It may be better to let this one go and wait for something better to show up it may cost more but chances are its going to have all the major/expensive parts on it.

I have to do that anyway. When my dad sees the car, I know what he will say. To much rust, no engine. He wont consider anything without an engine, even when I tell him its the only way I will ever afford a Charger is to buy one less motor and trany. I might be able to get him to take me to look at it, but I dont know right now.

I think its smart of your dad to want you to hold out for something a little more complete. Maybe just got with an A body for now or really anything to work on. Then later in life or the next few years when you've got more money start looking for the charger. If you get that charger shell its going to be a LONG time before its even remotely driveable. Your 14-15. Save you money until you 16 and buy a running/driving muscle car. For me, the fun part is when you have a running car that you can drive and make improvements on. Not wishing it was running and feeling rushed to get it on the road. Get something you can drive/enjoy while your still a teenager :Twocents:

Looks/sounds like a shell...I personally wouldn't want to pay more than a grand for a shell (and that would be if it had very little rust), though I'm sure those 70 fenders would go for a little under a grand by themselves if they're in good condition.
Considering how much money would have to go back into it plus doing it on a teenager's budget you're looking at a heck of a lot of money and a hell of a lot of time before it will ever be enjoyed. :Twocents:

This is good advice! I've owned a couple Chargers that were so much trouble that I sold them for profit which I then blew away on other endeavors! Finally I picked up my Aspen that you see in my sig for $1200 CDN! It's SO much nicer have a car that you can actually drive and play with! A small A-body (or F-body as with the Aspens) with something like a 360-4 can be a blast!  :icon_smile_big:

It looks like: XH29L0G154901, but it could be XH29L0G164801 (or a combination of the two digit variables).  Either way, it is one of 1,434 1970 base model Chargers with the 383-2bbl., auto combo (per information from www.1970chargerregistry.com).........

Find a complete car. An incomplete car will baffle you while sucking you dry of $$

:iagree: My dad did the same thing to me when I started looking for Chargers a few years back. I was looking at Chargers in the same condition of this one and would try every argument to let me look at them or buy them and none of them worked, sure I did miss out on one good one but I am glad that he steered me away from the really bad ones because last year (actually about this time we picked it up) I got a complete Charger off of EBay I did pay $8K for it but I could afford it because during the time I was looking for a Charger I had a job and the money was there and I was able to pay for it in full by myself and now I am glad that I have the one I have now instead of the ones I was looking at. Because I would have lost all the money I thought I was saving in buying a cheaper one by buying the parts that were missing. Trust me it is for your one good to let major projects go and be discouraged/angry for a while then spending countless hours hunting down parts and fed up with things not being correct or way overpriced. A complete project Charger is better in the end and you will get it on the road faster and enjoy restoring it a lot more. I am not trying to rain on your parade but I don't want to see you screw yourself over and not enjoying your car like you should.
