i'm working on it . I've been told Franks are bare steel btw

I've been going thru the few pics I have of unrestored 1969 B- engines - they have the grey spring . So he very well may be right ( I wouldn't doubt it btw )

Here's the 2951473 NOS spring I bought from Brad's NOS Parts several years ago... sorta looks like it has grey paint on it to me  :shruggy:

here's a  69 big block return spring but it's green

It's hard to decipher what the Engineering Illustrations intend for an automatic B-body with a 383 or 440 engine.  Best I can tell, the green 34 coil spring in the auction is pretty close to the 2951474 (green with 33 coils) that an A-body with 383 would have been given.  That seems to be what the factory documents show would be used on a '69 B-body 383/440 automatic car.  '69 B-body 383/440 manual cars all got the 2951473 grey spring with 45 coils.  The parts book isn't much help, apart from confirming the colors and listing how many coils the respective spring part numbers have.

:P

Actually, it's good practice for me to go searching for stuff like that every now and then.  I honestly forget about some of the paperwork I have buried in boxes around the office here.  Thrashing around in the piles keeps things fresh in my mind so that I can find other things just that much quicker.

Plus, the best reason to have documents like these is to help other people out.
