It's not the first time something like this has happened and it certainly won't be the last.  :rotz:

He Dark don't get too bent out of shape over this.  It happens quite often I am sure.  And don't try to do it all right away.  Fix what you have to and drive it some.  You will fall in love with it and then fix the rest of it as you can.

You can buy a welder pretty cheap now days and can learn how to weld out of a book with a lot of practice on old tin/steel.  That is how I learned.

Have some patience and you will get it to the level you want it to be sooner than you think.

Wow!  Lots of replies since last night!  You know the car was not on ebay as far as I know...it was on moparts back in June (and maybe the month before) where I found it.  That is the only place it was supposely and the guy was planning on putting it into paid ads in August.  I went to see him and actually bought it from him.  No ebay or anything like that.  It seems like there was one similiar recently on ebay like this one.

If it was on ebay somewhere then I would love to see what the paying price was.  And yeah I paid the price for a car that maybe needed some minor interior work etc, but not as much as those who paid for ones at HPLAG.

Sorry...the car is indeed a 1970 and the guy did tell me upfront it is a RT Clone...with a 440 Magnum engine (uh well the shop told me they said it is indeed a 440, but came from a truck...).

Yeah Troy lmao!  I noticed that too Shakey and oh well.  Believe me I will admit that I have learned some things with this car that if I ever buy another old car I will definitely do differently.

Autorust and their frame caps I have all the information.  Have heard great things about them from those who work at Paddocks.  So any of you welders live around Indy?  lol   KMPX2 where do you live at?  ;)

The main thing that I am worried about is this frame and then from there the oil pan (the oil needs to be changed majorly and the pan is bent enough you cannot pull the plug out) and recoring the radiator for it leaks.  Then see where this transmission fluid is leaking from.  And rewiring so the gauges all work.  The rest can wait.  Well maybe the rubber around the windows for it leaks.  Which I plan to do myself if possible.  And I am totally thinking about going to a local tech college to learn.

You all have been totally awesome with helping me out and giving me advice and encouragement!  Just for that I am going to find a picture of me.  lol

Once again, all those things you listed are easy lil things to learn how to fix on your own! What's cool though is there is NOTHING like learning how to do all that stuff on your own on a Charger! It's like learning how to do brain surgery on a Predsident!

LMAO!   I plan to do alot of it along side with my Dad and so forth learning...except for the rails.   That is out of our hands.

Okay here you go.   NOW let me just say as I like to represent correctly on the Internet lol...it is a little older picture of me...I look the same but have an extra ten pounds (darn that...I quit smoking over a year ago and battled cancer so I did put on a few pounds.   And I like to eat too lol).

I am the one with the Playboy shirt on...second one from the right.   The other girls were in a music group that was popular kinda in Orlando, Florida when I lived there.   I figured you all would like this picture with those girls in it.   lol

At last I am too far away. I am about 20 miles north of Detroit. All of my free time is spent working on my Mopars , Harleys or Bracket racing at one of the local tracks.

Chicks with Chargers are COOL! :scope:

Oh & I'm probably as far away as Drache. :-\

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

DarkAngel0816

LMAO @ Drache...yeah I meant PlumBad...being that you Drache are a Canadian man.   And you know what else?   I use to live in Michigan long time ago- Grand Rapids area.

Thanks guys!   I just went and messed with the car for a bit and took pictures.   Will finish the film tomorrow when it is up in the air.   It is dumping more transmission fluid so hopefully that is just a bad gasket or something like that.   When I drove it last weekend along with my brother it shifted nicely so the transmission better behave for me!   lol

And maybe one day soon I will have my picture taken with me and my Charger to post.   :yesnod:

If it's a transmission gasket it shouldn't be that too hard to change, same with the oil pan if you need a new one of those.

Where are all the bloody members in Indiana to help this girl out?!

Big Lebowski

I'm putting a trunk floor and qtr. skins on a '70 Road Runner right now, getting the trunk floor out was fun. It just cost me 3 Blair drill bits (they only drill the pinch weld out) The last couple of issues of Mopar Muscle have some good articles on changing floor pans, qtrs, etc.
I'm a single '70 Charger R/T owner   :-* with a welder   :icon_smile_wink:, but i'm San Diego. Too far away. Oh well.   :rotz:

Dammit! I wish I were about 10 years younger and single...I'm only a marginal welder but I would already have been there by now. I can't believe someone hasn't already started the trip there. I envision this long convoy of pickup trucks with welders in the bed rolling to her house. Kind of like the ending scene in Field Of Dreams. ;D

dodgecharger-fan

DarkAngel, I'm too far away to help out with the work, but maybe looking at what my car went through will help.

Check the restoration links.

As bad as it might be, it can be fixed. Unfortunately, all it takes is lots of time and lots of money. Not as much money if you can do some work yourself - but then it usually takes more time ::) - case in point - the latest pics on that site are almost a year old. Not much is different today.   :-\

Good luck and don't give up.

Big Lebowski

Oh ya the before pics are scary...

But the after pics make you feel better...

DarkAngel0816

Big Lebowski-Yeah San Diego is quite a ways away!  Darn it.  :(   lol  But wow!  Car looks hot!  Definitely worked hard on that one eh?

dodgecharger-fan okay...thanks for passing the site to me!  Been looking at the pictures and wow. I do plan to do majority of the work myself but the frame and anything with welding is over my head.

And Telvis...lol!  Noone has showed up yet.  Hopefully tomorrow I will have more of a direction on what I am doing with my Charger...if it will be a local job being done or if I need to go ahead and bring it to the restro shop.

Man oh man can't you hold your horses! It's taking me awhile to pack my bags and to figure out how I can fit my welder into my car! Not to mention trying to convince my boss that helping a girl fix her charger is worth the time off! :D

You might want to go to www.lord.com and check out their Fusor adhesive system.  You might not need to do as much welding as you think.
