I'm having the same problem. I keep having to say no. I had to park my bee outside the shop at my house Sunday and I had a guy call me a few hours later wanting to know what I would take for it. And I live on a dead end road !  I get one or two calls a week from people who said that they heard that I might have a (insert car name here) for sale. They seem offended when I tell them no and they would feel a whole lot more offended if I actually gave them a price. A couple of years ago a guy saw my cuda sitting inside the body shop here at the dealershiip and asked me how much the car was worth. I said that I didn't really know, but that I had turned down 35 for it the week earlier. He got excited and said that he would give me 4 for it right now. I told him that he didn't understand, I meant 35,000. He couldn't imagine a 71 cuda being worth that much money. Said he could buy them all day long for 5,000 a piece. I said hey, let's go into business together. I said, you buy them for 5 and I'll give you 10. You'll be a rich man in no time. Call me when you've bought the first one.

i think the dukes is going to make more people want chargers, a whole new breed, but i honestly don't think they are going to go up that much more(can they?? ).. i mean seriously, lots of people (hlpag included) are banking on this and every auction for a 68-70 charger you see now has something to do with the movie and pricing. i think there will be an overflow of ebay chargers in the near future, everyone trying to cash in, and i think the market will stay the same if anything, and if it does increase, it will not be drastic.. that's my opinion only.. hell i have 22 you would think i'd want them to double overnight.. but i don't

Tell you what I had a Deal on Wheels from ohh about 1989,  Christ,  if I had the money back then...... There was 6pks. hemis, AAR cuds, etc,... 5-10 grand....... Now those cars are 5-10 times the price. :rotz:

A lot more people are going to want the cars, and they will inquire about them, but once they see the price, they'll go back to driving their boring cars.  I think cheap junkers and parts cars will sell really well, though.  Young guys who want a Charger but figure they can fix one up will buy a rustpile and swear that they can breathe new life into it, once they poured their college tuition into it.

I am happy I bought my 69 a couple of months before the release of the DOH movie.
Now I can drive and enjoy it even more because overhere they are getting too expensive.

Now getting remarks like:
''shouldn't you enter your car through the window?''
''when you gonna paint her orange?''
'' isn't that the DOH car?''
bla bla bla....

I'm wondering how many will get stolen now because of  the movie, you know, joy riders ::)

OK... bear with me but here's the upside to the DOH thing and my car.

I been going to a lot of cruises and car shows the last few weeks and I don't want to sound like a bigger jerkoff than I already am but the car gets lots of attention.

The really cool part is that all the kids come by and mom or dad take their picture by the car and they got this big sh8t eating grin on their faces.   It's priceless.   Yeah I hear all the dumb it's the Dukes car comments and stuff but for the most part it's kinda fun.

OK... that's not nearly as cool most of the time as some ricer kid's hot girlfriend bending over to look inside but it's pretty cool if you think about it.

Well if it drives the prices up high enough might consider selling the 500. I mean the prices will have to come back down at some point. They can't keep climing forever. I just wish I had the foresight to see when it is peeking, and sell the 500, then wait about a year and be able to purchase a Daytona for what I sell the 500 for.

its a dream I know.

69_500

I like how they say that a Charger 500 has went from $43,000 to $60K+ but then the last 500 I saw in excelent condition for sale was $95,000 and that was for a 440 car, the last HEMI one I saw for sale in excelent condition was $220,000.

Yeah, just wait, it will be more like the 1st ff movie when it came out.  I can already see all of the want ads for a running 68-70 Charger for $500 or less.  We should borrow the line from Joe Dirt in response to them: "Maybe someday UNICEF will get into the used car business..." when they start complaining about the prices.  The cover page for this website should have a warning that the days of a cheap 68-70 Charger (or any 60s muscle car for that matter) have long since passed on.  Geesh, I can't count the number of times I have been told to convert my 70 /6 to a GL clone since "that would make it worth more".  For the record, I used to have problems with people asking about my cars at one storage location (you could see them from a side street), but I fixed that with some nice car covers that say right on them: "This car is for sale only in your dreams"........

Ah come on Chad, with all the other cars you have you should ocnvert that /6 to a general lee. Just kidding.

Its funny when people ask me why I haven't converted the 500 to a General Lee clone car. They all look at the back window plug, and say "hey if you modified it like this why not just add an 01 to the door and a flag on top"

Well, if I was interested in only money, it would probably sell for more and much quicker with a big block between the fenders (not going to happen).  At least their not asking you to convert your 500 into a Joe Dirt clone (someone mentioned that about my /6 due to the rough quarters).......

Oh I got plenty of those comments when I had the 69 SE Sunroof car.
