:scratchchin:  :scratchchin:  :scratchchin:    ok guys help me out here. i've had these halibrand knockoff 15's on my yellow 69 for a while. i found some chrome 17x8's no one else i know has on their charger.. was very excited about them. i got them on this morning... and i like it but i'm up in the air now.. i am not necessarily an old school type guy, i don't mind the 17's.. i am just torn over which to keep on there..there is no doubt the 15's look more aggressive with a better stance.. while the 17's look way more modern.. give me your opinions.. here are a couple pics of each...

oh yeah specs...
15's are 235/60/15 front with 15x7 and 275/60/15 rear with 15x10(had to put hijackers on the back and she still catches once in a while)
17's are 225/50/17 front with 17x8 and 275/50/17 rear with 17x8's

I like the 15's. The car looks better to me. The scaling and the stance all work. The 17's look out of place on a muscle car. They fit under the wheelwells but look skimpy. A better way to put it is that the amount of sidewall height is too small. Just my  :Twocents:   :icon_smile_wink:

i absolutly hate the 17"s, Muscle needs a fat bit of side wall and a deep dish wheel... but that's just my old farts opinion..

I think that 15's are the best look for a muscle car like Brock said "DEEP & FAT".   BUT, I also think that 17" combo looks real nice.  I'd run the 17's.   There is only a few larger combo's that I think look good on Big Boy (men's) cars.

Travis, I can't say anything good about the 17's you have chosen. Hey, I'm being honest here. They look to retro for the style of the car. Here is a web site for wheels I had for a short while on one of last few chargers recently.
www.introwheels.com
I had 15x8 & 15x10 w/BFG's. I had the Smoothie series wheel.
My next B body project has Cragar S/S wheels coming now.

Mark

Body colored wheels w/red lines would look sweet IMO.

Honestly???
The 17's look like something that'd be on a Nissan Sentra or a Minivan.....they don't fit the car AT ALL....totally gay. Not that I hate big wheels, I like 'em...IF the style of wheel fits the car....these don't do anything for yer car, besides make it look CHEAP.

The 15's look killer....have that retro look, a wheel that would have been used back when the car was new. What are they?  Look like a ET, Halibrand, Real Rodder's knockoff.....I like, I like!

Musicman

Ghoste

It looks a little too pimped for my tastes with the 17's on there.

Blown70

I will add that I do like the 17" much better BUT, agree that they are not the best look for a 17"

PocketThunder

I think the problem is the style of those 17's.  not all 17's look bad on a muscle car.

After looking at it again, I agree. 17's overall look better then the 15's but those 17's are ... ugly, IMO.

FLG

Dont have a problem with 17's  but those look very out of place on that car. Personally i prefer 15's and white letter tires and 15's look WAY better on your charger.

I like yours the way it is. My charger is hopefully going to have around that size. But with Recalls.
I wish I could figure out the size this guy is running!

Chunk both of em and get some steelies with dog dishes... that would look better.

Either looks good. On a car that size, 17-20 look pretty normal to me.

Travis,

Well since you asked. I am a big wheel guy myself, I run 17's and 18's, however, I do not like either. Those 17's are not my style, and I defiantly am not in to the "old school"  or stock look. The 17's might look better if you drop the car a couple inches front and rear.

Stance. . when you throw on a larger wheel, you need to drop the car down. Just my opinion. Sorry, I feel like I just pissed in your Corn Flakes. The car is sweet no matter what.  :2thumbs:

I love 17s and 18s on 2nd gen's, but yours looks much better with the 15's.  The design on the 17s just does not fit the car or do it justice.  The 15's do look awesome though, do they make the same wheel in 17s and 18s? :drool5:

15's for sure, those 17's look out of place....

I have to agree here. I'm a fan of BOTH smaller 15" sizes & larger diameter wheels, say up to 20", but those definitely look out of place.
I'm not even sure I like those 15's, either. Something looks out of place with the rear offset or wheel width, the tire almost looks too "balooney". Looks like the wheel is too wide for the tire.
Just being honest... sorry...  :icon_smile_dissapprove:

The car is AWESOME, though!!!   :drool5: :drool5: :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:

out of those 2 choices, its gotta be the 15's hands down  :2thumbs: having said that i have seen some good 17+ wheel combos from members here. As mentioned, i think the problem is the STYLE of the 17's not so much the 17's size. Ill always be a 15 guy myself  :yesnod:

Put the steelies back on, but with redlines dog dishes instead of the cop car dishes.

The 15" Halibrands aren't bad, but to me anything over a 15 inch wheel on these old cars just looks

WAY out of place...

if we're talking about which wheels look better 15" ones or 17" ones...i would say 17" (but...i can't afford them so i'm getting 15" :icon_smile_big:)

but if we're talking about THOSE 15" and 17" wheels...i don't really like either...but the 15"s are the better of the two...

i also belive in deep dish wheels w/ big sidewall, wide-as-heck, white letter tires...but that wasn't the question  guess that makes me a young fart :coolgleamA:

good luck :2thumbs:

Gotta agree. I like 17s and 18s (some of us have/will have to go that route with big brakes anyhow), but that style just doesn't do anything for me.

ah the charger farm has shrunken some but is doing fine. thanks for all the input so far guys.. i think from the general consensus those 17's are a no go for the car, and those polished 15's are the lesser of 2 evils.. i am just not a fan of steelies and rallyes, i just can't put those on that car. maybe if it was a hemi car or something.. maybe i'll have to come up with a plan C. i was so excited too..

Just my personal tastes however I don't like either of those wheels.

Oh...and 15s over 17 bling bling wheels anytime.

pettyfan43

OF THE TWO CHOICES I like the 15s, the bigger wheels work well on those cars IF they are the right wheel.

Look at The silver Pro Touring car that is on here (Can't remember whose car it is) and Mr Angry. Those cars look KILLER with the bigger wheels.

It is all about the style and how it fits with the LOOK of the car. Those skinny spokes on the 17s scream "I need to be on a skyline/accord/eclipse!"
