has anyone used a mini starter from these guys, they are fairly cheap on ebay but i dont want to buy some sub standard garbage that leaves me stranded somewhere.  they a;sp list 2 starters, one is about 30 dollars cheaper than the other one but the specs seem the same for both  ,  any idea what the diff is?

I bought mine from them several years ago. At that time I don't remember them having two different starters.  Haven't had any problems with mine.  :2thumbs:

did it spin the motor over alot faster than the stock starter?   i put a junk yard mini starter on my daughters car and was amazed at how fast it spins the motor, and it has 190-200 psi cranking compression.

was that with or without a core? if it was without do yuou have a part#?   autozone.com shows 142 dollars with core charge.  if i was going to thow that much cash at it id either go for a powermaster from summit or a robbmc starter .

parts america lists a starter for 79 bucks but thats with a 40 dollar core charge.

The auto zone part# is 17181 its 79.99 core is 47.00 = 126.99 you get the core $$ back when you return your old starter so the starter cost you 79.99 :2thumbs: This starter is for a 95 dodge pick up 1500 5.9 and fit my 440 great and works great and life time warranty  :2thumbs: Alan

Definitely, it took me a while to get used to the sound of the engine cranking over.  It was so much faster than what I was used to.

That'll work the same for a 383, right?

69chargerR/T

Yes they will take the old starter back. The stater I got had a paper in it showing a pic. of the old style starter and the new style and said it will replace the old style, and the box is big enough to fit the old starter in :2thumbs: Alan

Mike, the DB electrical starters are awesome.....i've recommended them to several guys and i also have one for my own car. Douggie (R2) has one on his 13.5:1 compression 440 in the Belvedere....turns over fine even with very hot engine temps.  :2thumbs:

I don't know why you get that price :shruggy: When I go to autozone.com and I put in that part # I get 79.99, core 47.00 = 126.99. Did you try looking up a 95 dodge 1500 pick up 5.9 starter and see what you get for part# and price ? Alan

Alan,  heres a link to what im coming up with.   i wonder if our autozone has a higher price here in idaho?   thanks for your help.

http://www.autozone.com/R,1854016/vehicleId,2001003/initialAction,partProductDetail/store,2295/partType,00045/shopping/partProductDetail.htm

i went ahead and ordered the starter from db electrical  after reading rons post.   the price is really good but im a real pessimist so i thought it might be to good to be true and was afraid of getting a starter that wont spin the motor over fast.

i did send them an email and asked the differeance between the 2 starters and got this reply.

"The 17084 has a little more torque than the 17466 but not alot more.To be honest theres not enough difference in the torque for the extra amount it costs. We have sold several of the 17466 and the 17084 and both of them have proven to be quality starters with very few being returned for warranty."
Thanks, George

George, the autozone in your area must have higher price's. I clicked on that link and got the same price that I gave you, it must be giving me the price in my area. I was going to get the same starter you are getting, but I checked my local auto parts stores and autozone had one for 79.99 so I got that one :2thumbs: Thats to bad that the autozne in your area is charging 95.00. You will like the mini starter they work great :2thumbs:  Alan

Are these a simple bolt in alternative, or do these require grinding and prodding to get into place? As it is once I figure out how to take the original starters of my Duster and Charger I don't really want to have to revisit them for years. The charger installation is pretty straight forward but the duster's headers have made me realize I probably will have to remove the pitman arm and swing the whole assembly out of the way to slide the starters in and out between the header tubes. Also the autozone one with the lifetime warrenty would it work on a 340? or is it B/RB exclusive?

Any info would be appreciated
