Vacuum advance hitting rad hose??

I have a 70 440 with the A34 package so it has a 26 inch radiator. I was rubbing up on the hose with the timing at 15 initial BTC. I installed a new MP distributor and now setting at 15 initial the vacuum port is in the middle of the radiator hose. When the vacuum hose is hooked up it kinks it making it non functional, plus I don't think anything pressing on a hot hose is going to extend the radiator hose life. I would like to keep my original setup (rad hoses etc). These 26 inch rad settups always look like the vacuum advance is sitting really close to the hoses. Is this a timing chain issue or is there something else to try? I could run less timing and clear the hose but the car runs much better advanced. THANKS

you can put the advance pod anywhere you want. just pull the dist. and rotate the oil pump drive gear a couple theeth at a time. you can also move your plug wires on the dist. over one space. then reset your timing with a timing light. not hard to do.....
