The blinkers on 74 Charger work, but the emergency flashers do not. Are they on the same circut? where do I need to start looking?

John_Kunkel

The emergency flashers have their own flasher unit, separate from the turn signal flasher. I'd start there.

hazzards from batt source... do you have dome light ? brake lights ? they are on same circuit.

Have no dome light, but brake lights work.

Nacho-RT74

thinking, thinking abot why one and not the other.

Do you have map light ?

I have a under dash map light that works. Also, the trunk light does not work.

Nacho-RT74

ok, but dome light does work on both situations ? I mean opening door and with light switch

sorry that I'm focusing on dome light but being on same net, need to track where the source is failing, and probably will fix both at the same time

I would replace the Hazard Lights Flasher. The trunk light, dome light, glove box light, all get power through the hazard flasher. If that doesn't fix it then I would check the hazard light switch on the column.

not "throught", but yes spliced from the flasher input

Can you just swap the blinker & flasher units as a test?

I don't think it will work that... they are on same net but feeded each one individually, not THROUGHT some device.

Dome light does not work at all. I will try the emergency flasher and let you know. Thanks.

Nacho is absolutely right. I gave you bad info in my earlier comment. Those lights are powered through the input side of the hazard flasher connector where the pink and black wires are spliced together not the flasher unit itself. I would check that connector first.

While trying to find out why the dome light, emergency flashers and trunk light do not work, I found a new problem. What has 3 wires going to it, (a pink, yellow and black in one connector) plugged into a silver colored unit about an inch or so long and 7/8 wide? That thing was hot to the touch. What would cause it to get so hot?

Nacho-RT74

ignition key courtesy light ?

is normal that unit get so hot when ign key light is lighed on, when gets cold simply cuts the power and turns off the light. Is a bimetallic piece, thats why gets hot

For testing purposes the turn signal and emergency flasher units will interchange but will blink at a different rate because the turn signal flasher only deals with two bulbs while the emergency has four.
