What Mopar show (2006) is a must to visit and why?

As for me, down here in the Florida panhandle, I'm planning on being in the "MoPars at The Battleship" in Mobile, Alabama in April.   It's probably the largest MoPar event of the year here in the deep south.   The venerable old WWII dreadnaught, the USS Alabama is tethered in Mobile Bay and MoPars from all over the deep south take over the park.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't be deployed to some hotspot in the world, so I can take the "Mistress" over there and meet some great people and see some badass classic MoPars!

Not in the U.S. but I have to highly recommend Moparfest in New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada just to be different. I've been to Carlisle 2 times and Moparfest numerous times when I lived in that area. Carlisle might be bigger but Moparfest ,in my opinion ranks right there or dare I say better field of cars. Late August I think it is.

Why isn't that one show open to the public? sounds "elitist" Why is there to gain from a completely private show?

Troy, you did not give your opinion on Monster Mopar in StLouis.  It was down this year from previous, but still a decent show.

I'd still go to Carlisle before Monster Mopar if I had to choose only one. I'm not much into the racing part of the shows so I guess over half of Monster Mopar and the Nats doesn't mean anything to me. The wing cars at Monster Mopar were pretty cool and definitely something that was missed at the Nats and Carlisle. However, the number of cars and vendors was just really low. I'll try to go a few more times before making any judgements though. I heard the one in Ontario was a great show too but I missed it this year. Not sure if or when I can make it to Mopars at the Strip. Fortunately, I am centrally located and can go to a bunch of different shows every year. :D

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I have always wanted to go the the Moparfest up in Canada. I have heard rave reviews of that show over the years. One of these days i'll make the trip and see that show instead of making the  trip to Columbus and wasting my time at the nationals.

Another vote for Carlisle if you won't be upset about not seeing 1/4 mile racing. The drag strip nearby is only an 1/8 mile strip, so it doesn't interest me to watch cars stop just after they get started. The Nationals are good, they have a 1/4 mile track, but the chaos can be overwhelming if you are going for the first time. I went in '85 & '88 & don't recall it being as crazy as '03 when I was there. It is worth seeing, but if I were to pick one over the other for a first time, I say Carlisle. I'd bet if you're coming from Europe, an east coast trip in the US would be easier to do. Carlisle would be about a 4 hour trip by car from New York City, & the Nats in Ohio will add another day of travel each way. The Englishtown, NJ show was a big deal years ago, but it's faded a bit. Still a good show with a 1/4 mile track, but not as big as Carlisle & the Nats.

It is a lot closer to NYC if that matters, & besides, Chris & Chris (Burnt70 & Just 6T9_CHGR) will be happy to show you around, they almost live there.   :D

I mentioned Carlisle, PA earlier and I will stand by that, however I see a few mention Moparfest in New Hamburg, ON (about an hour or 100km West of Toronto).  I went for the first time this year and had a good time.  Lots of vendors in the swap meet and 1000 + cars.  This is Canada's answer to Carlisle or The Nats, just not as big.

I took a ton of photos and posted them here in August.

Dial up folks BEWARE, you'll be here until the sun comes up!

Carlisle would be my chioce as well.  AK the TDC is a members only meet this year. 1 meet for the entire registry. It's the 20th year and Wayne wants a central BIG gathering.  It is as much for our members who have not meet one another to finnally do so as much as the chance to get the largest Charger gathering possible.  As a person who has been to a TDC meet every year scince getting my Charger I can tell you the people you meet MAKE the TDC. The cars are a GREAT binding agent. John
