Is this a good deal for a '70 hood?

I'm wanting another hood for a hood scoop, but $300 sounds a little steep. I've looked around the internet and haven't seen any others though. Also, I talked to the guy and from the sound of it, it's in better shape than my hood. What do you think?

Better price than I've seen at the swaps.  Worth it if its a clean hood.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

If you're going the route of a scoop, does anyone make a fiberglass '70 hood?

Funny, I tried to sell mine 25 years ago at swap meets & couldn't get $25 for it so I kept it. Now I have a mint one for my Daytona.

Yeah, VFN does, $300 for pin on and $400 for bolt on. Flat only, don't know of one with scoop. So the craigslist hood would be cheaper and local so no shipping. However, if that hood is nicer than mine, I'd keep it and use mine for the scoop since it already has some bracing cut on the underside.

$25 huh? I'll give you triple!! Deal?

As much as your offer is tempting me, I think I'll have to pass.     You should have came to Englishtown, NJ a long time ago & even saved on shipping.

Yep, $300 is good for a clean hood. US shows a 6pak style now available. http://www.usbody.com/

For glass stuff I used these guys and was very happy, as they had a 70 fiberglass front bumper

Buy it before it's gone. Check for rust in the front crossmember where the saftey latch bolts on-if it's solid-get it! Clean '70 hoods are nearly impossible to find. If I hadn't spent 30 hours or so fixing the rust on mine, I'd be on my way to Oklahoma RIGHT NOW!

GreenMachine

Well, I bought it. It's in very good condition, it's just missing the rad. support seal and one of the turn signal wires is cut off at the end. No rust anywhere, but I did notice one small ding on the aft passenger side.
Turns out I had bought something from this guy before, real nice guy. He said he went to go look at a '54 Ford truck and decided to buy it. He asked about 2 engines and the hood that were laying out. The seller said he could have them and that they were pontiac parts. He thought the hood was GTO hood. Turns out they were 2 440's and the '70 Charger hood.
Here's a couple of pics of the new hood and one of mine.

Isn't that Shane guy from Oklahoma :scratchchin:

"That Shane Guy" is from Owasso which is close to Tulsa, and I have never delt with him. I have delt with a guy named Clint from Oolagah which is close to Owasso and he is a good guy to deal with so don't mix up the two. In fact, seems that everyone I've delt with in Oklahoma has been a good experience. Shane is just a bad egg.

Clint from Oolagah doesn't have about 14 Chargers in his yard does he?

Pretty weird question.  The only reason I ask it is because I bought a '69 from McGahey.  He tried to scam me by not sending a lot of stuff in the pictures, but I did get it all eventually, and I got off lucky compared to others.  But his wife said my particular Charger came from Oolagah, from some guy with about 14 in his yard.  I don't believe a word that comes out of the McGahey's mouth, but thought I'd ask about this anyway.  Cheers.

It was several years ago that I dealt with him, I think it was 2002, he didn't have any Chargers out in his yard at that time. I wouldn't be surprised if he does now though.

Thats not a bad deal for a hood that clean. I paid $200 for mine last year and for the condition I was happy to pay that! It was pristine down to the faded original paint. Not a ding anywhere and rust free! You can find '68/9 charger hoods if you look for them. '70 charger hoods are VERY difficult to find!!  :2thumbs: Wished somebody made a front valance for the '70 though...

I keep my extra hood in the garage on wood 2x4's.  :2thumbs:

I was very careful with it. It was raining the day I bought it, so I needed to drain the water. It's now safe and sound in my spare bedroom.
