I just saw this on a 2009 Challenger at the "Cruisin' the Dub" car show, here in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
I thought they looked very nice, and the vinyl used in the stripe was of a cool textured variety.

On a similar but disrelated topic...the A&W folks were hoping to break a record for registered cars at this show. Last year they had over 1100 cars. Not bad for a small burg like Halifax/Dartmouth!

I think that Dart might be a '69, or did some '70s come with the engine callouts on the hood?

Wow look at that perfect drivers side fender alignment  ::)

Stripe looks cool though.

I like these new factory stripes on the '09 R/T's

Chris' '69 Charger R/T

Those R/T hood stripes that look like the 3rd gen Roadrunner Tank track stripes look good. They're a $200 option. That's the stripe that we're ordering on our new Challenger.
Well, when they decide to make the limelight color available. '09?  '10? Who knows. We'll wait.

Well, I've at least SAT in two of these cars now, and I'm all for it. A big, tall/fatty like myself can at least fit...which is a lot more than I can say about a lot of other cars.
However, the only people who could fit in the backseat when I'm driving will have to be amputees!! :icon_smile_big:

My wife seems to think that the design is too slab-sided, and I can dig where she's coming from. The response I gave her is the same thing I've told everybody who doesn't like these cars for their design "faults"...the designers did the best job they could with the platform they were given. The "hard points", that being the width of the floorpan, the cowl/dash height and the engine compartment were pretty well set in stone way before the production of the previous Chrysler 300Cs, Magnum Wagons and Dodge Chargers.
Given that, I think it was pretty ballsy for the Corporation to actually gear up and give the population the kind of car they were clammering for for decades.
I'm not going to bash the design of this car whatsoever.
The salesman who was helping me on the day I got to sit in it, asked me what it would take to sell me that car today? I told him: "Six speed transmission, and Plum Crazy purple paint".
I know the gearbox is already being produced now, but the paint isn't. So I'm biding my time....
I went to the Bramlea, Ontario build plant last weekend and took a few pictures of the Challengers coming out the door off of the assembly line. Quite a few "Kowalski specials" (white R/Ts) in the works, but nothing purple....yet.

Nope, no yellow or sublime - I have the brochure at home... the stripe options though are pretty slick as well as the 20" chrome, torque-thrust looking wheels on the R/T Classic (what I would get in tor-red with the '71 style R/T side stripe)...

We've made the decision to buy a new Challenger. Now the hard part is to know how long to wait to get the good options. We're leaning towards sublime for the color which is due out by the end of the year, but might settle for a more normal color. The problem is what other cool options are coming? We know that the shaker hood is coming, but there's talk of a new T/A and the go-wing spoiler to name a few of the other possible options.
With the growing concern over oil prices and poor fuel mileage, I'm sort of afraid that we might see 1972 all over again. A lot of guys didn't buy the '71 Cuda and Challenger because they expected the '72 models to be even better. What they got was a short list of options for 1972.
For right now, I'm willing to wait to see what happens. I guess if the worst happens, we might be able to find a nice used '09 R/T.

69 Dart GTS in the first pic, and a 71 Demon 340 in the second.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

I second that!
Car's got a lot of pickup. It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
