This was my sons second camp this year with the Penguins, but the first one is just a scrimmage camp, and they only had the draft picks there, and I didn't take many pictures, but the Summer Hockey School is much better, and here are pics from the week so far.  He a goaltender as you can tell by the pics!!   ;)  Two time Stanley Cup Champion, ( with the Penguins in 91 & 92) Phil Bourque runs the camp, as does Asssitant Coach for the Penguins, Mike Yeo.  Yesterday, Head Coah Michel Therrien showed up, and today, defenseman Rob Scuderi showed up to help wth the camp.  Sidney Crosby has shown up the last two years of the camp, and hopefully he will tomorrow too.  My son Blake is sooo excited that he might show up.  If he does, I'm sure I will have pictures!!! :popcrn:
So anyway, here are some pics if anyone is interested!!

This was 45 minutes of power skating with Besa Tsintsadze.  He helps with power skating for the pros too.  If you know hocky, you know who he is!!

Blake liked this drill.

Making a save!!

Head Coach Michel Therrien, (on the ice) and Assistant Coach Mike Yeo (on the bench).

Michel Therrien and Blake in net.

Blake (in the dark blue shirt) waiting to meet Defenseman Rob Scuderi.

Blake and Rob Scuderi.

Everyone with Rob Scuderi on the ice.

Looks like a blast.

I played ice hockey for several years growing up.   Fun stuff.

Being a goalie is a good way to enjoy that sport.  So few kids want to be one, and so few kids can talk their parents into buying all that equipment even if they did.  So the goalies tend to end up with lotsa ice time on good teams.

I'm a goalie too, so that is why he wanted to be one, but it is amazing how much money they do save (after equipment) on ice fees for the season because they need goalies. :coolgleamA:

I was a goalie my first about 5 years of hockey and was one of the best in our league. But my team was always really good and it got boring standing in the crease all that time with relatively little shots per game. Now I play left wing and am average. Being a goalie was much more fun though during a close game and much more rewarding after a win.

I agree, but I didn't get too many wins.  I was shell shocked about every game. :brickwall:  I can say my GAA was not bad considering the amount of shots.

Also, no Sidney Crosby today.  Maybe next year!! :icon_smile_cool:
