71 RT

I was wondering if anyone out there had definitive numbers of how many 69, 70 and 71 Charger R/T's were factory equipped with a sunroof.  I know the number of R/T's declined each year, so common sense would say so did the sunroof cars.  Does anyone have the real numbers, I have heard rumors, but never have found anyone who could tell me for sure how many were made in those years.  Any help is certainly appreciated.  I appreciate any help with this.

The only RT specific information on sunroofs that I have is second gen specific:

"XS29L9* Charger R/T 2 DR S/HDTP Sunroof 131 " (I don't know Hemi sunroof production or how many were RT/SEs with sunroof in 1969)

from: http://www.1969chargerregistry.com/stats.html

"M51 Power Sunroof 112 built 1.2% $461.45 requires vinyl roof"

from: http://1970chargerregistry.com/Production/RT_Codes.html

I have misplaced my GG White Books during my move last month which might have more information on them.  If someone else can see if that information is in there, please post it up........

Going from the top of my head but I think the total sunroof productions for chargers in 1969 is 391. With 29 of them being RT/SE's.

See I remember some other numbers than for 500's and Daytona's. Of which none of them have the M51 option.

Might be completely true for 69 - but not so on the 70.  In 70 the Order Number begins with M if it's a sunroof
car :2thumbs:

How bout 71s?   :shruggy:

In 69 the SO number starts with a 928 for the sunroof cars if I remember correctly on the one I sold. 925 being a 500, 926 and 927 being Daytona's.

And I was implying that none of the 500's or Daytona's had sunroofs but I see that chris was   :slap: for not remembering that they don't list the M51 on any of the fender tags in 69, just on the broadcast sheet.

71 RT

Thanks guys, but I still don't appear to have any information about the 71's.  Anyone know for sure how many R/T's with sunroofs in 71? I bet someone on this site has the answer.

So you're positive C500's and Daytona's didn't come with VT's?   :shruggy:  You're POSITIVE?   :scratchchin:  Like absolutely positive?  :icon_smile_question:  :whistling:

From what i have always read, you had to get a vinyl roof to get the sunroof, and all sunroof cars I have seen have vinyls. I will say it now that you guys know more about these cars, but I have never seen a Daytona with a vinyl roof. :icon_smile_big:

Well, just thought of something: :scratchchin:

Do I spy a sunroof?

I have a press release from ASC saying they installed in 1968  :coolgleamA:..I have a sales picture with 1968 seats..here is a later model sales flyer where it states vinyl is optional. :scratchchin:... Does anyone REALLY know what came out back then?? :shruggy:

2008 R/T 5.7l HEMI (Road & Track)

On the later car with the hand cranked sunroofs you could order it without a vinyl roof. However for 1969 vinyl roof wasn't and option, it was part of the sunroof option which meant THEY ALL GOT IT.

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.
