2nd gen luggage racks... ever seen one being used to hold luggage?

Being one who kind of enjoys seeing Chargers in their originally-intended environment (used for transportation and fun) I'd kind of like to see some luggage racks on some 2nd gens with some actual luggage being hauled on them. Are there any pictures of such a thing?

I have always liked the look of a luggage rack on a second gen, but have always wondered if any ever actually moved luggage? :scratchchin:
This is my favorite pic of any 1970:

I like the tire size, anybody tell what they are?

well, that didn't take long.... :D
:smilielol:, actually I have some original Dodge books from back in 69 I got at the dealers and there is a beautiful blue Charger with a chrome rack on the trunk and women are standing on it.  That's not a dented roof she's kneeling on, it's just a shadow and the way the camera makes it look.

I don't mind the appearance of the rack, but it's just not right on an R/T ...these cars are for performance enthusiasts not for extra baggage..I have seen several with the option back in the day, but never with anything on them....besides isn't there plenty of room in the trunk on these cars for luggage???  :yesnod:

G-man

The tyres look like Bias Ply going by the tread shape (Mickey thomspon seems to be) size... they could very well be the 325's Bias Ply are offered in... doubt they are the 15.4" wide ones. (390 or so wide)... Im assuming its the 325 as they do look wider then 295s and the only thing inbetween is a 325 (MT Sportsman).

Well thats my guess anyway.

Tires? I'll go with old school N 50 x 14. Oh ya, when you guys were in diapers, we had 14 x 10 Cragers.

The tires are Mickey Thompson Indy Profiles

Chicks standing on the car doesn't count as luggage IMO. Hmmm. :scratchchin: I didn't think this would be so difficult.

It's an original Dodge Ad involving the trunk rack?  :shruggy:   Beats comments about tire size by far. ;)

I'd like to see the luggage rack photo shopped on a '72 Dart.
I remember seeing them on the chargers back in the day, never seen anything on them though myself. I thought back then, who would put a L/R on a muscle car?

Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

Not on a Charger or an E-body that I can remember and I sure don't have any pics of such.  Now that I think about it, I haven't seen all that many people using the roof luggage racks on wagons or minivans either. :scratchchin:

This thread had a growth spurt overnight! They put the luggage racks on 71-74 AMC Javelins too, but no the Javelin AMX, let me see if I can find a pic. :scratchchin:

No pic, but found this.
