At the mercum auction I watched, a lot of people talked about putting 80's cars inside, and not driving them, hoping to sell a rare survivor Ford Festiva sometime in the future. Maybe Hemis will die out, and four bangers will be the most expensive. "I paid $1,000,000 for this here four cylinder automatic convertible 1983 Yugo" :D

It'll never work. 

You can't manufacture collectibility.  If "everyone knows" that a brand-new item is gonna be worth a fortune someday, it probably won't be.
