On eBay a while back (2+ years) I saw a daytona up for sale with a fender tag diagram. I put it into my excel database, where I store fender tag info for cars I like off ebay, and forgot about it. I found it today, and thought it was strangely optioned. Somethings dont even sound right for a Daytona! I didnt store pics though. :brickwall:

Here is a diagram of the fender tag:

Not sure about the paint code, I was under the impression the "F" in FT6 signifies 70 and later paint code and I thought a tan bucket int. in 69 was C6T.

M21 M31 P31 R11 V88 Y39
FT6 A11 A36 C55 G15 J45   A11 would be the first option on this line.
FT6 C6T5 FT6 529 987273 This should read 925273 or 927273 (and the paint code should read F6 C6T T3 if its an F6 green car with Tan interior)
E86 D32 XX29 L9A 379259 The A should be replaced with a B

There is a ton of things wrong with that "tag" - not to mention the fact that the VIN number is not in any of the sequence number series from around that time.  An SPD in that date range would be way higher, the S.O. number's not in the range, hood pins were not coded, etc. etc.

Collectively, this group has tracked just about every Daytona that has come across eBay and I don't ever recall a Tan (oh yeah, they didn't use FT6 in '69 since that is a 1970 paint code designator) with tan interior non-console automatic.

Just my humble opinion, but I'm not buying this "recollection."

I remember quite while back there was an ad on craigslist for a purple Daytona that the owner tried to pass off as a real Daytona he had the vin changed somehow so that it was XX. Maybe its the same one maybe some one else remembers it better than me.

I posted this here for three reasons.
1. It was strangley optioned
2. It was deleted after a day and a half on ebay (Yes, I kept that)
3. He said in the description the reserve was set at $87,000 (Yes, I kept that too)
All three of those sounded like a scam, and I am just curios to know if it was. I posted exactly what was in the ad.

I agree. The tag is just not possible. It is totally made up.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Just 6T9 CHGR

"987" isn't a valid SO # either among lots of other things that others have stated...

What specifically about that tag led you to believe it was "strangley [sic] optioned"?   :scratchchin:

As far as the sales code options from Line 3+ on this "tag" go (and ignoring the '70-1 location of the second paint color code)... There is one slightly unusual -- but not THAT unusual -- option, and one code that does not belong on a Daytona's Fender Tag although the cars were eventually fitted with these at Creative.  Absolutely nothing from an actual equipment options standpoint that even hints at strange.

I have my own opinion about the source of this "tag", but that opinion is best left unspoken. :rotz:

Hey it would be an odd car with bucket seats, and no console, or buddy seat though. Then again there are plenty of holes in the tag that make the lacking of one code, or the addition of another seem kinda normal.

Speaking of odd Daytona's, I can't think of but a few Daytona's period with T3 interior, and the vast majority of them are bronze cars to begin with, only 2 that I can think of that aren't bronze cars. Neither of which was a green car.
