Kathy emailed me about a week ago, said she had read this thread and that she had never spoken to me before about the money Keith promised me.  She said she would send me the check, and it showed up yesterday as promised.  So, thank you for coming through, I appreciate it.

I would be running it through their bank and not yours.

Yeah, I hope it clears for you obviously but it doesn't sound like the kind of situation where I would get too excited about anything but cash (or better yet any stolen parts returned).

Y'know, if this whole situation weren't so tragic for so many people. It would almost be funny.
She's worried about paying back $40, when some people are out tens of thousand of dollars.
Hope she just keeps writing (good) checks, although it will never repair the damage they did
to so many people.

I dont understand why local police aren't doing anything, unless they do not know the extent of what he has done. Maybe they think he just has a couple of disgruntled customers, and are willing to let him sort it out on his own. Either that or he has relatives/friends/bribes takers that are working for the local police department.

You guys that have been ripped off need to flood the local police department with your complaints, then call every day to see how it is progressing. Dont just call once and then let it go for a couple of months. Maybe then they will get off their asses and do something about him, just to keep from being hassled so much or drawing so much attention.

You guys also need to contact the county sheriff in KY (They have a lot of power), the Attorneys General of Kentucky (fraud), the FBI (interstate trafficking), the Post Master General (mail fraud), the Better Business Bureau (Just so there are a ton of warnings posted for other people), and Interpol or any other international crime agency (multi-nation fraud/crime). You should also flood any local TV stations with your stories so that the media exposes this guy as well. And dont forget to file claims with your insurance companies if the cars were covered. Remember, Theft falls under comprehensive, like fire, so if you had storage insurance on your cars, they may be covered for theft as well.

Stay away from class action lawsuits, because the only ones that win there are the lawyers, he will only get one sentence, and will be able to plea bargain that. Also, they may agree to settle for pennies on the dollar as restitution. Individual lawsuits will tie him and his funds up for many years, and each case will add separate jail time. Also, individual lawsuits will be able to garnish any future earnings he may have.

Either way, you dont want to just sit back and let the system take care of this guy. Keep the pressure on the law enforcement agencies involved, and they will want to get this guy taken care of as quickly as possible in order to get you off of THEIR backs and allow things to get back to normal. Hopefully, they will make an example of him, and that's what I would insist on.

i think all his workers there needs to be investagated also, they helped him take apart cars to restore, but knowing and/or helped him load peoples parts on his trailer for swap meets, car shows, and said nothing to people about their cars,,thats not very much of a person in my book for not contacting people and letting them know,,,unless they are in on it to

I agree, if the workers were in on it, but the workers rarely get to talk to the actual customers, so they may have been completely in the dark.

He could have told them that he bought the cars in order to part them out. It would make sense since they all needed restored.

Let's "NOT" forget his wife Kathy...    She is in this just as deep as he is.   She took money, talked to people and had her hands in the same cookie jar.   I keep seeing alot of talk about Keith, make sure to include them both.

Yeah, their whole breakup may just be a ruse to throw the police off the track. They're probably hoping the police will figure its just another divorce gone bad/business closing type of thing and leave them alone to sort it all out in divorce court. The police will be more lenient if they believe that instead of thinking of it as pure fraud.

They also may be planning a getaway, or something like that, so they are trying to throw everyone off track pretending they are going their own separate ways.

You people need to lawyer up and start suing and pressing charges before they get too far. It only costs a couple bucks to sue them in small claims court. If they dont show, you will get a judgement against them. If they do show, they dont have a legal leg to stand on, so the judge will throw the book at them.

hey everyone i been posting on the thread from troy in utah but yes im gonna get on here too and deal out every strike i can to keith pope and kathy (stevens,sargent?)pope yes they hooked me bad not that its bad enough over a radiator or headlight motor but im looking at the possibility of not even having my 68 charger,extra parts or money back ,....not 40 or 200$ but 28,000.00$ hope everyone steps up and puts out the word im sure he will try to get back in the hobby/business,........his wife even talks like shes gonna try to run the business thanks to everyone for their thoughts and responces

I agree.  I have no idea why she decided to send me a check now, especially out of everyone involved, but hopefully the check clears, etc. and people start getting paid back what they are owed.   Although the way it sounds, no one is going to be able to come up with that kind of money.  Anyway, just passing along the update/info.

I posted a want ad there a year or so ago and these guys contacted me with almost everything on my list at way below market low end values. It took a couple weeks to get pictures of the parts (they said they had yet to be removed, I suggested they take pictures of the parts installed and they ignored that). I chickened out because they wanted money order only. It seemed "too good to be true" and I thought I was going to get ripped off. Had my PC not been infected with a virus last fall, I would still have had those emails and pics.

Damn, ANOTHER thread about this guy in London!?!?! I lived down there for 15 years and sold Keith a pile of 3rd gen parts back in 2001ish right there at his house. My transaction with him went well. I never in a million years would have expected all this shit from a secluded person in secluded London, KY.
